Will play less than 14 games this year you'd imagine. Its now coming into February and Bobby hasn't been sighted.
His conditioning looked poor for the short stint he did earlier in the pre-season, so unless he's training the house down somewhere in WA, he will be in no condition to play much footy, if any, in the first half of the season.
I will be playing Harrison, Hayes, even Saxena ahead of him. To me Bobby is about 4th in the pecking order for that small forward role...
I hope you aren’t serious that a guy that looked barely draftable coming out of the weakest draft in 20 years is currently ahead of Hill? Unless it’s in a “Hill’s not there so has to be back of the queue” type of way and I don’t doubt that Hill’s career let alone 2026 is up in the air, but Saxena is currently about 43 on our list.

Also don’t think perryman will be playing kid anytime soon. Just isn’t a runner / runs & carry type player. More suited to setting up structures, shutting down opponents and delivering accurate short passes.

players like Parker, Q, Prindable and Harrison more of a chance to get a midfield spot imo

So… who are our defensive mids? And don’t say Pendlebury

Considering Bobby has had no football since June/July last year. Spasmodically trained last season, and has had no pre-season to speak of so far, l think his conditioning wouldn't have him ready to play VFL footy, let alone AFL.
I saw him when he was rehabbing his hamstring earlier in the pre-season, and then he looked very thin, looked to have lost muscle tone, and to me was looking way off getting into condition.
So if right now you ask me, l would have him 4th in line, unless he is back next week, hits the track hard and is fully committed to getting fit and ready to play, then he leap frogs into 1st or 2nd in pecking order....

Just found out HDM has a contract for 2027… that is mind blowing.

That's a surprise. I am of the opinion if he can't crack it for one senior game this year, he wouldn't be on the list in 2027.
I just don't know where he plays at AFL level. He's played HB and HF at VFL level with limited success, then moved into the midfield where he showed stark improvement.
If the club is trying him at HF this pre-season, then l fear for him going forward and his chances of any senior footy this year....

I’ll legitimately give you 50-1 odds on Saxena playing before Hill in 2026. There’s an emotional investment in the current state of play with Hill, but my take is more about how far back Saxena is. Hill can return at any stage pre KB and still be in the frame to play whereas Saxena’s best shot is 20+ injuries…

I would take those odds, where do l get a piece of that action?

He wasn’t good in the vfl as a mid outside of a handful of games. He’s a turnover merchant and doesn’t win his own footy

For me it’s not super surprising. He got that contract pre draft. I agree that he needs to show something, but with upcoming retirements in the midfield over the next couple of years, we need to persist with a few younger players on the list and hope they develop quickly and at least provide some strong depth.

At least they have had a couple of years development and a few pre-seasons under their belt.

Not sure what the alternative is unless we target an A-Grade midfielder and another who can step straight in to our best 18

He did not get his extension pre draft… unless you mean pre the draft of his 2nd year on the list?

The smooth-moving Pie has been working on his strength with Scott Pendlebury in the off-season, and is determined to stay focused even as some pundits predict the team to slide in 2026.

“Every team at this time of year is optimistic about the season ahead, and that’s the same with us,” he said on 3AW.

“It’s fair to say not too many of the boys are looking at the media in December and January and getting flat about the comments.”

I think the opposite. He's very unlikely to crack a midfield spot in 2026, so for him to get games he needs to be able to play another role - ala Sullivan. They could just slot him into VFL midfield as he was solid there last year, but that's not going to be an AFL role for him this year.

Has Ed Allan improved during this preseason? I haven't read or heard much about Allan.

Is he a lock for best 2023 or he will still be developing in the VFL.

Hoping our 22 and 23 first round draft picks Allan and DeMattia are not a bust.

It seems like a natural progression to me. He's shown really good ability in the midfield last year. He'll get games this year as a high HF with a few cameos in the midfield.

Yeah, it's rare for blokes to begin their AFL career in the centre square. They need to be able to play another role.

I think if Bobby plays in the first half of the season it'll be a miracle. If he plays the second half, it'll be a blessing from God.

I noticed how gaunt and wrung out he looked late last year and he still has that look. It was quite jarring. He looked feeble to be honest. I worry about Bobby.

Then why are Collingwood having a Holiday and Not Training Today IF they hate Australia Day?

they have trained on australia day before. Its nothing to do with liking or not. As per the AFLPA, there is always a 4 day break around this time of year.
