This is great. And Eddie is playing his part as well. A sure fire way to increase profile. Let this build and bubble a little and Port will receive more air play and exposure. They get their on field results to tick over into positive territory and hopefully that club finds its way out of the shithole it is in.

I sincerely want Port to do well and pull themselves out of the rutt that they're in.

But I don't get how they're going to achieve that with a Sydney based President.

Koch has said that he'll fly over to Adelaide once a month for the board meetings.

I guess he was right on the money when he said that he's not going to be an Eddie-Mcguire-Style-President.

It is a poorly timed comment from president **** given the good will that exists between the two clubs.

Funny thing is, I doubt that Koch intended any offence at all. He was just making a statement of fact.

And he's just found out what it's like to be a cute fluffy white bunny rabbit who has accidentally bounded onto the shooting range.

Exactly , he didn't mean anything by it I reckon , plus nobody can deny that Eddie isn't an in your face kinda prez.

Interesting comments.

Get a celebrity President, but have him claim he wants no attention of profile.

If they want a president who is not hands on and wants to manage the Executives, then get a guy with business nous. Not a breakfast show host who think he has business nous.

I think Port's main problem is identity. I think they need to dissociate a bit more from the Port Adelaide Magpies part of them and try to make the team an attractive option for other neutral South Australians. I think they have finally done the right thing in this regard by removing the black and white stripe element from their jumper.

I like Port, this better work out or the club could go under. I hope they recover from this tough path over the last 4 years.

I must say my opinion of Port has changed within the past couple of years. I really disliked them under Choco - but perhaps their struggles have soften me a bit

Doubt Kochie meant any offence by the comment, as already mentioned eddie is an in your face president. If Eddie took offence to the comments then he is being a bit precious but I have a feeling he said something because he likes the attention he brings, never one to step back from a stoush even if he has to manufacturer it. thats his way and it has worked well for the most part.

omg.... now i'm feeling really sorry for Port supporters....Kochie wants the ratings up in South Australia. Try another mining disaster Kochie.

Bingo!

Port need people who are committed to their cause. Not B grade media types who are trying to raise their profile.

Port is in a load of trouble already & bringing in a part time celebrity president is just another nail in the port coffin.

The way Port are going they are up against it just to survive in the AFL. I much prefer that sides that have a long history like Freo & Port are in the comp rather than sides like West Coast & Adelaide so I would be very sad to see a club like that go.

The fact that could be coaches are running away from the job after being interviewed is very worrying.

It all comes back to administration. All the best clubs have great administrations who set the clubs up to succeed - this applies to all clubs, from local footy to other sports. If Koch is serious he needs o be fully involved in fixing what is a disgracefully administered club.

It wasn't so long ago that the cynics were questioning the wisdom of having an inexperienced channel ten sports reporter come in to rescue the basket case that was the Collingwood Football Club.

Eddie has worked tirelessly to turn it around and to prove the cynics wrong.

Hopefully Koch does the same? His first few days haven't been promising, but hopefully he settles in and makes it work.

This is the hope. But it would be worth Koch looking at how that reporter applied himself - basically hundreds of non stop hours working on, in & at the club. Koch lives & works in Sydney & intends to fly in on weekends. I know skype is great but there is only so much you can do.
