There's no better way to paint a bullseye on your team's back than ripping the umpires.

I'm sure enquiries will be made through the appropriate channels but blasting away in the presser isn't that.

Can also make officials take notice and think about their calls.

They already have a negative perception of Sydney due to the media, it would only make it worse.

We just have to suck it up and work on getting better. It's shit but it's all we can do.

To be honest, **** it.

We seem to be bending over on trade ban, academies and no officiating.

Surely it must be getting to the point where we say "the **** is going on?!"

Getting sick of doing nothing when club presidents seem to be able to dictate terms the AFL and we cannot do anything.

Because we would be seen to be biting the hand that feeds us, since in the minds of many the AFL is the only reason we still exist. To be seen to be going to war with the AFL would be bad for us.

It is incredibly frustrating and I feel for the players who would be scratching their heads figuring out what the hell are we supposed to do but our hands are tied. It's times like these when we find out what we are made of.

But they started it!

I understand why we don't do anything.

But rolling over time and time again will not fix anything. AFL will come out with a fluffy "they got it right" piece and move on.

Simple fix is stating umps will go full time and hammer in interpretation to them and feed it to the clubs. But they won't. Gives them an out for accountability.

I am expecting a new rule on academies this year in which an academy player will mot be allowed to be chosen if FS, just in time from Blakey and Close.

It may be time swans use a bit of clout being a key proponent for growth and biggest potential fan base

I don't know what we can or should say or do but we have to do something. This is beyond a joke.

The acolytes on tv completely ignored the entire press conference when done. Just skipped right over it like it never happened.
Are there any actual journalists in footy? Or are they all too busy in their mutual self regarding circle jerk?

They don't want to lose their jobs.

They don't want to lose their jobs.

They're only in danger of losing their "accreditation".

They should change their titles from "journalist" to "mouthpiece".

Real journalists don't need accreditation anyway.

I think if you watch both press conferences, Horse went about as hard as he reasonably could. The message should be clear.

My view is that umpiring hasn't got any better, and in fact has got worse, since the AFL and media made them immune from criticism.
