At a local well-known supermarket chain today, I noted the price of the following varieties of Coca-Cola:

600ml (cold) $2.19
1.25L $1.17 (reduced from $1.65)
1.5L (cold) $2.34
2L $2.48

I've also noticed some ridiculous pricings of this same product at other places, let alone the mark-ups that are placed on them (especially when served at a cafe/restaurant/bar).

Do people care about these sort of price discrepancies? Do you just buy what you want in the quantity that you want, or do you look for the most economical buy?

People will get the highly-priced 600mL if its at the checkout, rather than going down to the fridge downthe back and getting the bigger version.

I'm thrifty (read: tightarse), so I go for the most economical product.

I work in the buying area of one of the large supermarket chains. The 1.25Lt is what pulls people into the store, thus we get down to hot prices.

The mark up is around 12% not much all things considered.
