Yeah when you factor it all in, I don't see how it's an efficient system.
Just a state obsessed with owning its own system for the sake of it. they've even got the machines on Lonsdale Street now. who the hell is going to put in their one single coke can and scan that and get 10 cents for it? and the homeless there are getting incredibly more ****ed up, you don't even get the humble homeless with a sign anymore who would collect cans to try and get a stay in a hostel for the night.

It was probably introduced to add a levvy to all drinking vessels knowing most people would just chuck it into the recycling anyway.

I also live near a fairly big NPL soccer club and they've put in machines behind their clubrooms. the machines are constantly full because, obviously, the club just uses the machines every few days from everything they've sold in their canteen. surely there's a way of picking up cans from community sports clubs and giving them their money back without spending probably four grand on a machine just for them and that the community can never use?

I use Woolworths for most of my shopping and stock up on a number of items when they’re on special. The rest I supplement at Aldi and swing by 1-2 times a month as part of a bulk shop.

The whole premise of ‘sign up to shop back or your companies portal to save 5%’ concept seems absurd and unfair, charge reasonable prices and let my mum pay the same as I do at both stores FFS.

Mate, memberships, loyalty schemes, rewards points etc are one big pain in the arse. People think it's a good deal but they are just getting us to dance for our discounts. It's getting worse, how about sack half your marketing team and lower the prices ya campaigners.

Woolworths and Coles are both comfortably in the top 10 for advertising media spend in Australia without factoring in costs to execute their loyalty programs, which would be enormous.

It’s like modern day marketers have completely forgotten that price is part of their strategy and just don’t actually give a **** about consumers. We are victims of living in a free market with a duopoly that pretty much ****s on any new entrant except Aldi. Kaufland withdrew from the market before they even entered yet the ACCC remain as gutless as ever to tackle price gouging from both the big two, and their suppliers.
