Gday all,

Just wondering what printer and/or scanner everyone has and how you rate it - I'm in the market to buy a new printer and scanner, but not too sure what brand (Canon, Epson, Lexmark, HP) to get or what model is the best.

Cheers!

Ive got a HP 710C. Its alright.. I guess. If you want a REAL printer your best bet is a laser printer. Laser printers are so good they go like a rocket and are so clear.

As for a scanner Ive got a BenQ. Once again it does the job but I dont scan much.

Another idea is to buy a Scanner, Printer and something else (i forget) altogether as one. You would probably save money there..

Good luck mate.

Does yourr scanner do multiple scans properly?? I can scan like three pics or something on my piece of sh*t...but it just like, you know, f*cks up. Bout time i got a hold of a good one.

if you want a wicked multifunction (printer, scanner, copier) you can't go past the Canon MPC700 or MPC730 (with fax) a bit pricey but awesome photo printing, hish res scanning etc.

Or seperate go the Canon i865 with an LIDE 50 scanner.

I ended up purchasing a Cannon i950 printer (22p/pm) and I picked up my scanner today (Cannon 9900F).

Anyone got either of these or know anything about them? How do you rate them?

I use a scanner every day as part of my job (image archivist for a Museum), and the one tip I'd give you is check out the speed of the scan.

In the old days before USB, a mate bought a parallel-port thingy and it would take him 5 minutes for each scan. I had (have) a SCSI device, and its FAST.

Another is (and this may sound obvious) to watch out for any flatbed that has a raised lip, or edge, surrounding the scanning area. My idiot boss went out and bought a cheapy HP device that had such a lip, and it won't allow the librarian to scan larger type books properly, as it stops the pages from laying flat. Same for prints mounted on cardboard, etc.

I love Epson scanners. Nice, easy software with good features.

Definetly need a laserjet printer for good quality.
If youre gonna fork out a couple of hundred for a standard HP/Cannon then its worth adding a few bucks and getting something that'll last you for ages

HP Laserjets , something like the 1100 are the ones we've used at work
