Once and for all...can someone answer this Q???
Is it 5.5 wins you still get the PP? or 5 wins...????
I've heard that many variations...

20 points or less is the qualification total.

any more and a team does not qualify for PP

Lets hope the draw against Port doesn't cost us a PP

Ok lets say that we win 5 games this year and we still finish last, what happens then?

thats what i mean...i've been under the impression that 5.5 games will still get us the PP...that damn port game better not be an issue...

In 2003 when you would have got a PP, the Saints won 5.5 games and only got the first pick (ie first round), not the first 2 (PP + first round), when you guys got excluded (sorry to bring it up, but it was the most recent example!)

5.5 Wins = NO PP (Brisbane 1998)
5 Wins = PP

Winning an extra game could mean the difference between us gaining an extra 200 game champion

this is from another thread.....

Re: No Priority Picks this year.
Its actually 22 points - 5 and a half wins.

I may be right after all...

You could think positively and just think that it's a Vance/Roach/Fitzgerald/Kinnear that you are missing out on!

don't believe everything you read on other threads.
maybe you could send demetriou an e-mail seeking clarification.

depending on other teams number of wins get pick 1 and pick 2 in national draft
we win a spoon,
get pick 1 in PSD,
are the butt of oppositions jokes for a few months,
bounce back bigger and harder that ever, seeking vengance on all who have kicked us while we have been at our lowest,
hopefully the draft talent is as good as 2001 and we pick up a judd, dal santo, ball, hodge type/s player/s.

5 and half wins means you miss out on a PP. It's 20 points max. Trust me. I speak from experience!!!!

Rule is - 'You must win less than 25% of your games played in any one season.

Example -

1998 - Brisbane won 5.5 games.

1998 ND top 10 was :

1. Brisbane Lions - Des Headland (Subiaco)
2. Fremantle - Justin Longmuir (West Perth)
3. Sydney - Nic Fosdike (Norwood)
4. Sydney - Ryan Fitzgerald (South Adelaide)
5. Port Adelaide - Michael Stevens (Murray U18)
6. Carlton - Murray Vance (Murray U18)
7. Port Adelaide - Josh Curr (East Fremantle)
8. Sydney - Jude Bolton (Calder U18)
9. Essendon - Mark McVeigh (NSW/ACT U18)
10. West Coast Eagles - Brandon Hill (Peel Thunder)

IE - No priority pick for Brisbane for winning 5.5 games.

Or think even more positively and realise if you win 9 out of your last 12 you will make the finals. :D

I've never been a fan of the system. It rewards mediocrity.

It should be changed...

too right it does.

unfortunately our medocrity has seen us rewarded with the likes of Vance, Massie and Livingston and stripped draft choices in recent years, whilst other teams have built the foundations for a premiership with the best talent in the country.

It's about time we cash in on this. If all goes to plan, we will win only 2 more gmaes this year (maximum), get picks 1 & 2, trade Whitnall and any other mid range player who isn't going to take us to a flag and try and score some more first round draft choices ala Hawks/Tiges last year. If we can recruit a Franklin/Roughead/Lewis or a Deledio/Tambling/Meyer, I will be happy.

If however, we win a few more games, get a higher pick, do not trade any of our duds, and pick up more hacks such a Leigh Harding or someone, we will be in the exact same position next year.
