All you have to is play jess white at CHB and Reid. At full back and we solve the problem it's not rocket science What do you think ?

I think you haven't properly thought this through.

The problem is that the players have lost any will to win the premiership. I cannot see this group winning anymore.
The current crop are nowhere near as good as what we had. How will they fix their disposal efficiency to begin with?

It's a mess. Lucky not to lose 100+.

I was simply amazed at the Essendon players yesterday. Not only their disposal efficiency, but their hunger to win despite all the off-field issues. Didn't matter who was in and who was out. They were going to win that. The fact that Goddard, Watson and Hibberd were out didn't matter. Their younger players led the way.

Reminds me of Collingwood before the premiership :(

Weird call given Frost was actually one of few who could hold his head up after yesterday, and we desperately need more, not fewer, avenues to goal.

The thing that would most help our back line would be an iota of defensive pressure from our midfield. Yesterday we could have had the Silvagni and Jakovich down back and it wouldn't have helped.

His disposals weren't up to scratch. He certainly wasn't anywhere near the worst though. At least he had a crack, so I'll agree with you.

Jimmy Clement would've though!

Williams Frost Toovey
Maxwell Reid Scharenberg

would be pretty nice with Langdon and Keeffe in the mix for depth and injuries

I saw White play CHB/FB on Waite in the VFL and he really doesn't have much of a clue. If you were looking at that game in isolation, (as opposed to needing him for structure) he wouldn't have played against the Bombers

What do I think?

More than anything, I'm just surprised that you got the apostrophe in "it's" right. Your teacher must be so proud!

Couldn't agree more.

I'm happy to keep persisting with this backline.

We all know that defensive units need games together to develop cohesiveness.

Frost, Keeffe, Langdon, Williams, Toovey and Seedsman are all getting valuable game time and it is fast-tracking their development

This similarly happened with Reid, Brown and Toovey who were young in 2010 but had games pumped into them. Presti ultimately lost his spot as we pumped games into Brown.

I agree that sending Reid and White down back could be a good short term fix. If we were a premiership threat this year...then I think Reid would definitely play defence.

But long term, getting matches into these guys will benefit.

We always have the luxury of knowing that Reid can go back at any time...and Brown should be available next year.

I think our best hope is to keep developing Witts/Grundy to also be valuable forward options...and that should take the pressure of White...and would also allow Reid down back. Otherwise, the ohpe is Darcy Moore develops quickly into the role.

Ultimately, our midfield is what needs to lift. The lack of pressure through the middle would trouble any defence in the competition. I'm more concerned about Swan and Ball than Keeffe and Frost.

Other than being tall is there anything to suggest White will be a good backman? Given his athleticism hasn't exactly helped when playing forward can't see it working for him in defence either. His ineptness would be further highlighted by having bags of goals kicked on him.
