Problem with 1080p??? / PS3

i have a Sony Bravia X Series 46 inch and as you all know it supports upto 1080p...

i have set up my ps3 with the tv and it looks great...when i start it up where is has all my music, pictures and demos it says its on 1080p but when i put in a game such as COD4 which supports 1080p...it automatically switches its settings to 720p..

ive tried to go on settings and fix the problem but its getting confusing...can anyone help me????

ok uuum i sort of found a solution...

i changed my settings on the ps3 HDMI setting manually and only selected 1080p..

whe i select both 720p and 1080p and play COD4 it selects 720p but when i select 1080p alone it plays at 1080p...

Yeah mate, on the television menu there's a Games setting, set your television to that and it should always play in 1080p when available - it also makes fast moving images move smoother. Some games aren't natively in 1080p though, so you have to remember that.

Actually, you won't find many games that run in 1080p native.

Unreal 3 on PS3 is only 720p, Heavenly Sword 720p. Resistance and Motorstrom both 720p.

Skate runs at 1536x864 on PS3, and 1280x720 with Anti-Aliasing on 360.

GRAW2 runs 720p on PS3, and 720p with 2x AA on 360.

In fact COD4's upscaled 720p mode runs at 1024x600 with 2xAA on both consoles

Whichever mode you are playing COD4 in, it's upscaled from 1024x600. 1080p or 720p. The PS3 doesn't have the grunt to run these games in 1080p.

Shows how irrelevant the whole '1080p wah wah wah' thing is. I'd rather keep the 60fps than have it output even 720p.

That's pretty funny, considering Uncharted is 1280x720 2xAA and is designed for the PS3.

Look I don't know what any of that technical shit means, but when I played Call Of Duty 4 and Uncharted I though COD 4 looked better.

And BTW how the hell did you find that forum, the post is on some obsure page in some obscure thread, you must have alot of time on your hands.

I just like plugging my PS3 into my HDTV and playing it on what I think is 1080p, I couldn't care if it is 1280x720 2xAA, all I know is I love what I see.
