A thought just occurred to me re: bigfooty.com is how many hours of productivity lost in the workplace, could we 'blame' directly on this site?

The thought would scare me, as I know most days id spend at least an hour or 2 lurking and posting ... my god how scary the full total must be! :D

So - give me a guestimate - how many working days per year would be wasted on this site?

Luckily for Australia, I lost my job four months ago and now I just study so it's not me causing the downfall of our economy.

I just found the damn site 2 weeks ago. The fact is, it's not costing Australia anything because I don't get paid overtime.

But I've been working 11-12 hour days, which would be much less if I didn't spend spend so much time here!

I go on straight after school and for a lot of the weekend.

On average I would think I am on here about 15 hours a week.

52 * 15 = 780 hours over a year.

Yeah, but how do you define "productivity"? This site is an artefact of our culture. It's every bit as valid as so-called "productive work" in the so-called "work place".

Any employer who doesn't give his or her employees a bit of brain space to do their own thing now and then is a bloody fool who doesn't deserve to be in the position of employing people. Ultimately, a happy workplace is the only productive workplace. Putting people in straight-jackets is counter-productive.

Sounds like a good enough excuse for me!:D
