This protected species crapola is getting out of control. Seems every Jurno not capable of forming their own opinion is jumping on the band wagon.
As some fellow supporters have pointed out the recent years statistics point to the swans being anything but prtected.
What started as verbiage regarding Adam Goodes has taken on a swans as a whole or as a club being a protected species.
Yes we have (for a change) copped a few questionable free kicks this year but in those same games we have missed some free kicks including a Barry Hall coat hanger. In fact one mark paid to Hall last week far too quickly by the umpire was shown on replay and showed Merrit pulling his arm down which was the kind of free kick St Nick receives weekly (and probably correctly so) but what it came down to was an umpire error for predicting Hall would mark the ball and blowing the whistle early making it look like Hall got a gift yet he should have been awarded the free kick anyway.
I can understand misinformed 15 team supporters who don't watch the Swans weekly crying foul as they will jump on to whatever the current topic is. But when supposedly respected AFL opinion makers start sprouting their gospel it frustrates the hell out of me.
When you watch a lot of AFL such as Friday games heavily featuring the likes of Essendon and Collingwood then you watch your Saturday night or Sunday Swans match you start to wonder what umpires have against the swans. I just cannot believe the publicity this is getting when it is so uninformed.
My main concern and why I'm bringing this up (other than the few bourbans iv'e had before the Bombers Bulldogs game tonight) Umpires are human and they would listen to all this unjust publicity and think that it is negative publicity for them. So in the back of the mind it's like "Hmmm I don't want to seem like I'm favouring the Swans better not call on those 50/50 ones"
Sorry to fill this board up with my frustration but this seems like the most unwarranted publicity the Swans have received in many a year.
On a lighter note I've really respected the attitude of the Eagles supporters who have contributed to the Swans discussions they are respectful as I am of them and generally light hearted with the banter and it's the kind of rivalry that other teams can only pretend is there where as this one exists out of true professional teams providing usually hard contests without any malice.
To hear magic say that they didn't intend to sledge Cousins as they have too much respect, last year in the lead up to the match made me proud to love a club with some bloody good integrity.
Whoah maybe I need to slow down on the drinks before matches and hope that my friends don't let friends post on forums drunk
