we were shite for 90% of that game. Only really turned it up in the first ten minutes of the last quarter. Kudos to Laird, Sloane & Otten they were working around the ground all day. Laird in particular stood out, his defensive game is great to watch. Has the attitude to tackle properly. Sloane & Otten worked hard all day. Other than that it was a forgettable day

I'm thankful that we didn't lose by 10+. I'm surprised we didn't lose by 10+. Being proud of that sort of performance is what leads to clubs to getting a poor, lazy culture where players feel like close enough is good enough and when it gets tough they turn to butter and get consecuitve 15+ goal floggings.

No we didn't. Tex was propping us up. Once our "get out of jail free card" went down, we got exposed badly for our terrible skills and complete lack of effort. We never derserved to win that game, despite the umpiring.

A proud loss was last year's Prelim, where we tried our heart out, but couldn't quite get over the line.

We had a chance to steal a game in Melbourne against an overrated side. We choked, big time.
The very reason we need a dislike button.

Lazy? ****ing Lazy? Simply bullshit.

i think we are where i thought we would be under sando when he took over.

Last year was a huge shock in terms of how well we did like port this year.

Our squad is a midtable squad, just need to develop it

The tale of our last 10 years. Proud to be close enough.....
You don't know this club.

Some of us remember how we would play games out with our head down, tails between our legs, sometimes only tony modra, who was getting knocked left right and center would be the only one playing for the jumper, in games in Melbourne..Especially 93-96.

Once upon a time the club and supporter base at quarter time virtually surrended in games like today

That is not the case anymore, they still have pride, and although we should never except a loss, we still can have pride in that jumper.

FFS your a bunch of mostly bandwagoning idiots here... We looked ok till our main asset went down with a serious knee injury, we lost our main small backman who has done pretty well and got screwed by the umpires, had Thompson not been screwed in the last we were a chance, grow up you whinging f###
I tend to agree with this.

We were on par with Carlton till Tex went down. They got a couple of cheap goals, but we looked to have the better structure.

Tex goes down anr our side is reshaped. Took till the last 45 minutes for our guys to ajust.

Mackay and Reilly miss sitters and Thommo does not.get an obvoious free (they covert soon after)we lose.

Kick these.goals.and we are likly.to be celebrating a great win.

You can tell in the first 5 minutes what sort of a day we'll have, with about an 80% accuracy.

We were fumbling, missing easy passes, and looked quite lost for most of the time Tex was on the ground.

Carlton were not that great either.

It was a game between two average sides. One side took advqntage of all their chances. We didnt.

Glad to see some people are easily impressed.

We were beyond pathetic for the first three quarters. Genuine bottom 4 material.

Jacobs was outmuscled by Betts at one point. Enough is enough, either bring in a second ruck or drop him back to WWT. It is a disgrace that a second gamer was one of the very few who wanted the ball out there (even though he made some errors).

Douglas and Otten are the only two who can hold their heads high from today, and indeed from the entire season.

Time to bring back Pigdog. At least we might win a centre clearance. Johncock probably deserves one last shot in defence - he can't be worse than Reilly.

We should have rolled Carlton today, no excuses.. Our season is drifting away rapidly so I for one dont agree that it was a game to be proud of. I'm sick of our club just rolling with the punches..The Redden fiasco, Trigg affair, man I'm sick of it. Blightys term "stickability" is what this group needs ten fold.

My biggest worry is that the coaching staff will share this sentiment.

We were crap, Carlton backed off when they thought it was won, and all of a sudden we start trying?

We have massive issues, that have been obvious all year. The win against a dismal Brisbane came off of the back of Danger, yet people celebrated because we won and ignored the warning bells. Thrashing the Bulldogs was meaningless as well, yet apparently if we win, no matter how shit the opposition is, then all is well.

Did you hear Sando's presser? (Genuine question because I didn't)

There's a fair bit of anger/angst/dissappointment in this thread. alot seems to be directed towards the effort put in by the players.

To those who think we didnt try, who are the ones you're accusing?

off the top of my head now i could name 2 Rory's, Danger, Otten, Thommo, Jeansch, Douglas, Talia and Truck as guys that were clearly trying and played well. Then i'd have Kerridge, Reilly, Jenkins, Henderson as guys who we're trying but played not so well.

I think some are confusing not playing well with not trying.
(unless you think we're not playing well because we've not put in enough at training. but who'd know)
