proxy & advanced settings

hi ppl. sorry for the stupid question, but i have a problem with not been able to change any proxy settings or advanced settings in the options menu using ie5.5 on a pc at work. Yes i'm behind a company firewall but i have not experienced such problems using earlier versions of ie. when i access these areas of the menu, the options are light grey font and cannot be changed. I can access the advanced options but when clicking on them to change settings nothing happens.

Any help would be appreciated.

What you are describing has nothing to do with the firewall, it has to do with the administrator settings on your Pc, the 'greyed out' areas mean you do not have access to those settings. The only person who could change them is your system administrator.
