So do P's involve a practical test in the other states? Over here (WA) you do your practical test on your L's, so that you can get your second phase L's. Have second phase for six months, complete 25 hours in the logbook and you can go for your Hazard Perception Test (on a computer).

Would be going for my P's next Monday if it weren't for the Labour Day holiday. Tuesday it is.

In Tassie, you do the computer quiz to get your L's, then after 3 months, you can do a practical test to get your L2's and then after 50 hours and 9 months, you can go for you P's.

Pretty sure the L2's are just a way for them to make more money as it forces people to pay an extra $70 for what is essentially a test to make sure you can do the mere basics of driving.

Plus, when they brought it in, it's like they didn't bother hiring any more testing staff, so the wait times for P's tests became a lot longer as heaps of people were going for their L2 tests.

Passed the test on my 2nd go.

1st test I had the strictest old lady in town. Commonly known as Dragon Lady by my mates. Failed me for approaching an intersection too fast had loads of room and wasn't going fast either. Gave me no feedback either and just gave me the paper and said cya later.

2nd time around, I had a much nicer tester. Old lady again but really chatty making me feel at ease. I admit i made a few mistakes and I got pipped for doing 1-2 k's over the limit. Thought for sure I had failed and had mentally prepared myself for a dissapointing result. Went fine other those though. Got back to the waiting area all dissapointed in myself. Got the call 5 minutes later for the result. She passed me, but only barely she admitted. She gave me good feedback for where I went wrong. I reckon she must have been lenient because I was nervous.

Good luck for your next test. Just stay calm and relax.

First time I went I failed the practical by one bloody point (not driving closes enough to the left), took the computer test (after the prac which I had already been told i had failed) the computer crashed half-way through my test so had to redo the computer test, which I passed passed.

Retook the practical test 2 weeks later and passed even though I was almost in an accident (not my fault) which caused me to nearly stall the car (corrected at the last second to keep the engine running)

Wow NSW bust be laid right back in victoria if you fail you have to wait a minimum of six weeks before you can retry for your license At a cost of near on 70 dollars compared to what harps said it is in NSW 48 dollars.

**** victoria and their strict licensing rules.

Nup in NSW you do:

  • A computer test for your L's $39 each attempt
  • A driving test for your P1 $48 each attempt
  • A computer test for your P2 $39 each attempt
  • A computer test for your Full License. $39 each attempt + either $50 for 1 year, $118 for 3 years, $157 for 5 years.
