Hey guys, got a quick question..
Have heard that playing PS3 on the Plasma can stuff it up, image burns in. Is this true?

If size matters, Plasma is 32"..

newest plasmas don't have burn in issues anymore (if you break them in correctly and don't play for an insane amount of time).

most manufacturers (i know Panasonic and Pioneer do) burn the plasma's in for several 100 hours in the factory to reduce the chance of burn-in in the home. It has greatly reduced the chance of plasma burn-in, but not eliminated it. I've read people complain about network logo burn-in on new Panasonic plasma's.

to answer your question, yes it can happen, but nowhere near not as often as it used to.

I've had my 42" Phillips Plasma for around about a year now, and I have been playing my PS3 on it for just as long, in the first few months I noticed some image retention after playing PS3 for a few hours, which went away after the TV was turned off, and now I don't see any at all, I think mine has been broken in like Abaddon said above.

Pixel shifting technology has reduced this problem on plasmas pretty significantly. But yeah, its still possible to some degree on many panels if game sessions go for long enough, and if your panel doesn't have pixel shifting, its a real issue

Games are very prone to cause it, as they usually have static head up displays. Not much you can do about it, except trying to keep gaming sessions to a reasonable length to reduce issues.

Plasmas give an awesome picture, but gaming is one area where LCD's are sometimes the better option imo.

I've been using a 42" Panasonic plasma for over a year now with my PS3, looks awesome. No burn-in problems at all, at worst I get incredibly minor image retention that goes away after switching to 3 seconds of normal tv.
