Less than one tenth of one percent (0.1%) of our PSN, SEN and SOE audience may have been affected. There were approximately 93,000 accounts globally (PSN/SEN: approximately 60,000 accounts; SOE: approximately 33,000) where the attempts succeeded in verifying those accounts’ valid sign-in IDs and passwords, and we have temporarily locked these accounts. Only a small fraction of these 93,000 accounts showed additional activity prior to being locked. We are currently reviewing those accounts for unauthorized access, and will provide more updates as we have them. Please note, if you have a credit card associated with your account, your credit card number is not at risk. We will work with any users whom we confirm have had unauthorized purchases made to restore amounts in the PSN/SEN or SOE wallet.

100K PSN/SOE accounts hacked. Disgraceful Sony.
No accounts were actually necessarily hacked.

"where the attempts succeeded in verifying those accounts’ valid sign-in IDs and passwords, and we have temporarily locked these accounts. Only a small fraction of these 93,000 accounts showed additional activity prior to being locked"

So in fact they stopped a majority of the 0.1% of accounts with weird activity going on from being properly hacked.

Sounds like the new security is working.

What sort of free service are Sony offering us here?

Disgraceful :D

Yep, good on them for having good security that only saw 100,000 accounts get locked after being hacked.
100,000 out of 70,000,000 is a good number. Surely!

Not like it's really affecting you, 3 months since last login? And you only did that because that was pretty much when the PSN came back up, before that it was much the same time since last login.

If anything the people who actually use PSN should/would be pissed?

Wow... ****ing crap.

Who are Sony winning against?

They're coming last against the Wii and 360 in sales.

Sony easily have the best controllers to throw in anger out of the three.

Xbox controllers are too big and bulky and do too much damage to decorative objects.

The good thing about the ps2 wired controllers were they would regularly rebound before hitting walls/tables/fine china, whereas not so much such luck is had with the ps3 ones

Who the **** really cares?
My comments were in regards to making more psn accounts compared to loosing some with price drops, and the FACTS are that Sony have sold a shitload of consoles over the last month or so that have brought those figures a little closer together.

HAHA i could plug my PS3 back in and make a shit of load psn accounts, regarding sales its quiet easy too have a 400% increase in sales when you dont sell many too start with, blue rays are cheap as shit now so no need too buy a PS3...

FFS it's like talking to ****ing 5 year olds in here sometimes, im going to go bang my head against the wall now.

Sounds like the new security is working.

Sounds like the new security can be hacked. I guess if your home security system only lets 1 out of 10 people in it must work also. :p

P.S guys, don't upset the fanboys.

It's actually like a security system for a house, only this is letting in .1 of a human out of 10, not 1.

If you can't physically stop what is trying to and going to get in regardless but at least have an alarm system to warn you when there is an unwanted intruder then has your security system not worked?

All systems can and will be hacked if people work long and hard enough to do so, as long as there's a system like Sony have now put up to lock accounts until properly verified by the real system/account owner then there's not much to worry about.
