I was looking at my membership renewal last night and wondering when I would have enough cash to pay it (fingers crossed for the christmas bonus).

Anyway I was thinking, why should I fork out my hard earned when I don't know what the team are doing at the moment. 2001 was our worst year ever, what is the team doing to give me some confidence that 2002 would be better. For all I know they could be propping up the Newport bar every night and visting Metros afterwards.

I could go to a training I guess and see whats going on, but why don't the team bring the training to the people. Instead of going for a training run when no ones around why don't they run along the river during peak hour wearing the colours so they are highly visible. Get the out there and doing stuff where the general population can see them - not all the time, maybe once or twice a week.

Surely that would be good PR for the team and generate more support.

Racer - your money will be much better invested with a West Coast Eagles membership in 2002 :) Nice folks down there!

Thanks all the same GoEagles but I could never turn away from the Dockers. I was an inaugural dockers member and have been there for ever since. Geez I'm getting all defensive now.

Anyway, you guys are missing my point. Don't you think that if the boys out there visibly training during the off season it would encourage more people to sign up for a membership.

it would be a good idea but don't tell us tell a team representative or someone that would consider it
after last season u probly wouldn't think we would get many new supporters but after the trading and drafting period maybe the memberships r rolling in

Why would it be good for PR? Both clubs get plenty of off-season mentions in and around Perth (just look at us, still talking footy in December...), dragging the club away from its training facilities so they can be gawked at isn't going to make any club more popular. And seeing someone training does not a supporter make - you still have to give a stuff about the team, and unless you're after the "Tight Shorts Appreciation Club" kinda member, seeing the Dockers running around ain't going to create loyalty.

(Besides, what if someone saw a Docker trip over or lagging behind the pack? ;) )

Well Freo would have to change their jumper colours first or it may end up as being a good PR job for the Eagles :D

But I think you are right about both clubs needing more visibility. I would like to see at least two training sessions a week advertised where and when on the Eagles board so we could go down and have a look and I guess you Freo fans would like to do the same.

They should also consider attending some athletics meetings at Perry lakes. Sprints, 400m, 800meteres races, long jumps and high jumps would be useful training and also give fans opportunities to see the players.

Oh and you Freo guys may want a go at the javelin, practice for next season as spectators with a target on Maccers back :D
