Thought it deserved it's own thread to post our thanks.

Thanks for your serivce big Q-Stick. Will always be one of my favourites and never forget your ping pong chest in 2004/05.

Great career at the Eagles, but probably suited both parties to part ways.

Goodbye TBU!

209 games
281 goals
2006 Premiership player (65 goals)
2006 & 2007 leading goal kicker.

good player in 2006 but dropped off and is no longer relevant.

Shit post.

B&F runner up in 2008 and 4th in 2009 playing in a dreadful side. Played in the midfield, played in the ruck, pretty much played whatever role we asked him to.

Fell out of favour in 2010 as we tried Mitch Brown forward (yep, that worked well) then bounced back in 2011 to have a great year.

Sad to see him go, but wish him all the best.

This.

He's given us great service and at nearly 30 years of age is right to do what is best for his career. I would have preferred to see him in blue and gold until he retired, but he's simply worth more to Collingwood (shudder) than he is to us over the next two years. While I hope they fail dismally under the weight of Travis Cloke's wallet and Eddie McGuire's head, I wish Q all the best.

Nnnnnnnooooooo what am I going to do about my username
I changed mine on mod monday. Looks like you'll have to pony up for the best deal in town so you can change it.

Free Agency at it's best IMO

Lynch has given his best endeavours for the club over the past decade. It's only fair that he looks to feather his nest as he sees fit in his twilight years.

Wishing him a great final chapter in his career!

What is your favourite Q memory?

When he debuted at Princes Park as the biggest 19 year old in the World?

When he got caught drink driving and attempted to run away on foot in 2004?

When he fumbled, dropped marks and generally displayed the motor skills of a root vegetable in 2005 - yet was still a better option than Andrew McDougall?

When he won us the game against Hawthorn at the 'G in 2006 kicking a bag of 5 and sealing the game with a banana after marking the ball 3 metres over the boundary line?

When he celebrated our 2006 come from behind win over the Cats like a goose?

When he bombed a goal from just forward of centre wing at Subi against North on a slippery day?

When he kicked 8 goals against the Lions at the Gabba, securing his second BOG of that year?

When he booted 6 in our SF win over the Dogs?

When his third goal sailed through the middle from 55m in the 2006 GF?

When he told the TV presenter on the ground after the GF that winning was "a f*cken boys dream"?

When he broke his record for most shots on goal against Melbourne in 2007 kicking 5.7?

When he threw the glove before most of his nearly 500 shots for goal?

Quinten Lynch:

209 games, 281 goals
Member of 2006 premiership side
Leading goalkicker 2006, 2007
Club Champion runner up 2008
Best moustache 2002-2012

Has the distinction of being (to the best of my knowledge) the only WC player to have been awarded 3 Brownlow votes in a game playing as a key forward (2006, Rd 14 & Rd 20), midfielder (2008, Rd 19) and ruckman (2009, Rd 13).:thumbsu:

All hail the Q.

Thanks for the service TBU. No hard feelings big fella you have to look after your young family. With Kennedy at full fitness and Mcinnes and Lycett waiting in the wings the opportunities will be few and far between

Dont really agree with this as simply not a fan of Free Agency. Would prefer the AFL to give clubs the ability to hold onto their veterans. I dont know how- bigger veterans list and allowance; or for the younger players with some many years of service then the ability to give more money not in the cap.

Not really sure how BUT i know i would much prefer to see a player like lyNCH THE opportunity to retire an Eagle.

As for the Goddards if a player wishes to go then the draft/trade system allows this. If it was purely money then Saints should of been allowed by some means of paying him that without affecting their salary cap.

Hate free agency and where it may take us

Should definitely receive cheers not boos when he returns to play against us. I for one will always have a soft spot for Lynch, he was a great team man for many years and deserves to end his career on his terms. Will always be more of an eagle than a pie thats for sure!

Will miss the big Q, gave everything to our club and asked for little in return.

Can understand him leaving, at the same time hate not seeing blokes being able to finish their careers as one club players.

Good luck Q! You will be missed.

thanks and good luck to the big unit.

i've had a bit of a love-hate thing for years although he was certainly an important contributor in our 2006 premiership side and his 2011 season was quite good at times. overall, since the flag i've more often than not been frustrated with big Q and i'm not at all disappointed that we won't have him lining up next year.

with his prime well and truly fading i also think that pies fans will find him at least as useless as dawes was this year. i fully expect to see q's turning circle widen even further, those regular clumsy fumbles multiply, and his overall effectiveness decrease once again. i'm not even sure if he'll be best 22 over there by season's end.

anyway, see ya lynchy! thanks for the memories.

Well done big Q. Never a superstar but really important part of the team. A cult hero for a lot of fans for ages.

Disappointing to see him go but can't hate on the guy trying to extend his career.

Liked the bloke ever since he tried to run from the cops - i mean who hasn't done that at some stage

We need another cult hero to take over from the glove - may need a thread for this.

'The Beard' ?
