1. If a player has his kick smothered, is it counted as a kick?
2. If a player kicks a behind that is touched, is it counted as a rushed behind or is it a behind for that player?
3. If a player takes a mark but it is called play on by the umpires because it is less than 15 meter kick, is it still counted as a mark?

Cheers

1. Depends on how the smother occurred, if it was effective, how far the kick went, who kicked it. E.g. are you saying they kicked it and it went no where effective? Or was it just touched off the boot? Or was it one of those in-between smothers where the ball still dribbles 30m along the ground in the right direction. The effective smothers are not counted. The touched off the boot do count. The ones in between seem to be a case by case decision.
2. If the kick is touched on the line, the player who kicked it gets the behind. If it is rushed, e.g. ruckman punches it through from 5m out or player under pressure rushes it through they dont get the point
3. See previous poster.

Awesome thanks heaps, it has always bugged me when you watch their stats and sometimes they get rewarded it and sometimes they don't.

Cheers!

Are you sure about that? I thought no rushed behinds counted as a behind to the player.

at what point does a tackle get rewarded to a player as a tackle?

tough one i know, but is there key criteria they look for? loss of possession, turnover, disposal etc I have also heard that if two people make a gang tackle they both are awarded the tackle.

I would also like to know this - I remember hearing that a tackle is awarded only fi the tackle causes a turnover or a stoppage, but I don't think this is correct.

That is correct.

That's basically it. Stoppage or turnover. A tackle can look like an effective tackle but if the ball spills out and goes to the nearest teammate then it won't count as a tackle.

What if they tackle a player kicking for goal and the player kicks a behind. or tackles a player across the goal line for a point

That is correct.
No, it's not. I've seen a player get rewarded at tackle many times when the player he's tackling gets a handball out to a team mate. I don't know where people get this from...

I swear i saw a +4 next to Betts's name when he tackled a west coast player over goal line on thursday night

Patrick Dangerfield tackled a Saints player in the second quarter, bearhugged him, ripped the ball out and passed it off. It was a clear tackle as he had originally pinned his arms in. He had 0 tackles to half-time and only registered his first towards the end of the third quarter.

Do you get awarded a tackle if you are tackling legitinmately and your team mate comes through and gives away a free kick. (High, in the back - whatever)
