Question about Wireless Broadband!

Just got wireless broadband for my laptop, the deal being 2GB for $29 a month. Thing is, I'm not too sure how much I'm using... it says I have sent about 3.7MB but recieved around 100MB and I'm not sure if both count, or one of them counts towards my limit. Plus all that happened without downloading anything, just came here, checked my emails and looked on nba.com.

Not sure if I am missing something here but I thought I'd check to be sure, hopefully someone in amongst the crowd can fill me in!

It could be software updates using your bandwidth. The best place to check is on your ISP site, they will have some sort of usage meter.

You have to be very wary about usage as plans such as vodafone's have excess usage charges of $100 /gb. Basically they suck you in with cheap advertised rates then really slug you when you go over. Plus they tend to lock you in for 24 months.

Yeah I checked out my automatic updates, and that was the cause of it all. I turned it off, plus all the other shit that just automatically updates and it's ALOT better than it was before.

I went with Orange's deal, and depending on how I go this month I may update it to 4BG for $49 a month, only an extra $20 bucks. Cheers for the help!
