Question re Optus changing net number

Optus are forcing the dial up number of be changed to a 0198 number for internet access.
Has anyone else had trouble with this new number.I experience drop outs every 10-15 minutes.If i was cynical i would suspect they are trying to force a change to cable. Whats the consensus?

Never. I can stay connected for anything up to 14 hours.
