Ok here are a few things I dont understand from last night....

1.Why was thornton left on Rocca for so long? Surely Haddrill would have been a better option.

2.Why does Sandilands player as a small? Numerous times I saw him stay down and play off the pack WTF. Why doesnt he impose himself.

3.What in hell is Medhurst still doing in the side? Arogant little **** get out.

4.What has happend to Haselby?

5.Why Is Pavlich played forward when hes required in the midfield and played in the midfield when he is required up forward?

6.Why is our backline so reliant on McPharlin?

7.Why is there speculation about the midfielder we are going to recruit when Polak hasnt been signed?

8.Why is Murphy not given a run?

I am sure there is more but frankly I am getting sick to death of these performances.
At this rate we dont deserve to be in the 8.

Thank God I am going skiing and wont have to hear about freos woes for a while.

Feel free to disagree but I think Murphy or T Lo (goalkicking form in WAFL) in last nights side (Medhurst out) would have made a big difference. Isn't hindsight great.

Connelly was outcoached lastnight ...and the questions above need to be asked.

Thornton v/s Rocca ?? I don't understand that one myself. One only had to look at the side between the two. Even a blind Cuddly should have seen that. Sandi is coming along. He needs more time and the mid field needs to help him out. I did notice he was knocking the ball forward last night and not just tapping. As for Medhurst no argument from this end. Haselby is being tagged out of the game. This is another side of he game he must come to grips with. Pavs best game of the year last night but I am sure he is confused as everyone else as to what Cuddley wants from him. Why is the back line so reliant on McPharlin? Because we have so many tryers that do "Dumb" things led by our vice captain Shane. Polaks value is dropping like barometer on a winters night. If he doesn't look out he will only have the value of a WAFL player. Murphy will get a run now the finals are a far distant thought. Thats my summary anyway !!

Ok here are a few things I dont understand from last night....

1.Why was thornton left on Rocca for so long? Surely Haddrill would have been a better option.

While it looked like thornton would be no match for Rocca from the first bounce, Rocca was getting great delivery on the lead from the midfielders. It wouldn't have mattered who we put on Rocca, if he was able to get on the end of a good lead, the only way to stop him would have been to block up the space in front of him.

2.Why does Sandilands player as a small? Numerous times I saw him stay down and play off the pack WTF. Why doesnt he impose himself.

Sandilands is not up to it yet. I think we play better with Longmuir and Snake around the ground who can actually get contested marks and kick the ball. Sandilands also struggles to keep up with his man leading to the illusion that the opposition have more players on the field.

3.What in hell is Medhurst still doing in the side? Arogant little **** get out.

With the delivery he got last night he never really had much of a chance. But that being said, he really got scared of a few contests letting brown charge through and handballing to avoid being tackled. I also think that if he is not playing well, then he shouldn't be selfish and actually lead his player away from snake. The number to times he lead his opponent towards snakes marking contests was just crazy, he needs to help out his teammates by creating some space.

4.What has happend to Haselby?
Was well beaten and tagged out of the game. CC failed to be proactive in how he was used, so he just wasn't used at all.

5.Why Is Pavlich played forward when hes required in the midfield and played in the midfield when he is required up forward?

Our midfield just isn't big enough without Pav in there. With Schammer, Bell, Hase, Browne, McManus etc in the midfield, we need a few bigger midfielders to stand up. Maybe grover should be used more in the midfield, he has been found out a bit in defense lately.

6.Why is our backline so reliant on McPharlin?
Cause he's so bloody good.

7.Why is there speculation about the midfielder we are going to recruit when Polak hasnt been signed?

I think some people are starting to doubt whether there is the improvement in this current squad to take us further in finals footy. I think that trading a bloke like Polak at only 20, would be a huge mistake. At the moment he is playing well below the standard he should be at, but rather than making him a spare parts man we should place him solidly in the backline.

8.Why is Murphy not given a run?

He will play next week against the blues with Polak going back in place of McPharlin. If he doesn't then CC is soft.

I am sure there is more but frankly I am getting sick to death of these performances.

Our gameplan sucks!!!
Obviously last night CC wanted us to use the handball and run the ball forward, but it was painful to watch us overuse it and just turn the ball over. At this stage I believe that we have the players to be a solid finals contender, but our structures and gameplan aren't suited to the playing group. At the moment most of the players aren't playing as a team, which is really costing us.

Agree with all your post FD but especially the above bits.

I wanna see Murphy in the team and see us kick long and direct to J Lo (who looked dangerous all night), Medders and Simmonds with Farmer and Medders crumbing.

Please..?

The problem I have is why the hell wasn't Colbert manned up. Same thing happened with Cornes against PA... their loose men across half forward have murdered us. It was so obvious sitting at the ground that Colbert was chopping up every single attack we had in the 2nd half. But nothing was done until halfway through the last quarter I think when Pav went forward.

time for people to look at all aspects of our team from top to bottom

did connolly get outcoached ?

does he make too many excuses before or after games about our team?

should coaches openly critisise players imo at times yes.

are our players thinking that at home is an automatic win?(complacency)

is it now our backline that is crumbling under pressure with no stucture? look at last 5 weeks.

Why o why would the board in all their wisdom have extended CC's contract a few years ago to take it past the two years that he had during the seaon .Not even Kevin Sheedy ,Leigh Mathews don't get offered more than 2-3 year contracts.

Why o why were contracts like farmers extended for an extended period of time past his initial contract? its not like he was going to leave our club he came home to our club no need .

what we are still young ?its all about the journey? NO NO NO
i have said it once and i will say it again we are developing a team not re building the expectations and the bar MUST be raised
medoicrity is no longer an option

The game that we played against the bulldogs was fantastic
What happened the next week .

Which was a deadset brain melt by Connolly as well, given Pavlich is a matchwinner, the game was there to be won, and he should have been in the midfield.

9. Why doesn't Connolly have the guts to unleash an attack on the umpires? He got the opportunity during his press conference when asked about the shocking non-call on Parker getting r*ped late in the game, yet come up with some bullsh*t cliched tripe which let the umpires off the hook. Combined with the pathetic free kick to Archer against Medhurst and the ridiculous mark paid to Rocca followed straight after by the joke free kick to Motlop, these maggots cost goals.
The only option for Connolly is to go bezerk for the media. At least then the umpires will have it in the back of their mind that they are going to get a public spray if they f*ck us up again. It worked for Hird.

If you're referring to Motlop & Parker, how was he r*ped? They were both raping each other. Perfectly reasonable to not award a free kick either way.

But I guess you're just bitter that Freo cracked under pressure, again.

I agree with the majority of FreoDocker's points.

What concerned me a bit was during the week Haselby admitted there was a good chance he would be tagged out of the game and may have to go into the forward line or some other option. Sounded a little bit defeatist.

Anyway, there were cetrtainly some disappointing aspects the teams performance, but overall I didn't think it was as bad as what I am hearing supporters and commentators saying. Is this just an overreaction due to the importance of the game?

I actually thought the Kangas played a great game, and more credit should be given to them for their performance than insinuating that the Dockers had the game in the bag and just let NM win.

1.Why was thornton left on Rocca for so long? Surely Haddrill would have been a better option.

I had no probs with the match up. Going into the game I thought Rocca was going to kick at least 5 given his recent form.

2.Why does Sandilands player as a small? Numerous times I saw him stay down and play off the pack WTF. Why doesnt he impose himself.

Possibly not quite AFL ready at the moment.

3.What in hell is Medhurst still doing in the side? Arogant little **** get out.

Where were you laSt week when he kicked 4. The disposal to GHD was appalling, continually over his head for Archer to spoil

4.What has happend to Haselby?

Apparently was not going to play but Carr got injured in the warm up, and therefore had to play. Hayden came into the side for Haselby initially.

Thank God I am going skiing and wont have to hear about freos woes for a while.

Freo is at its worst moment and you do a runner. Im looking forward to the next 7 weeks.

Laugh.. this was obviously a pre planned holiday and has nothing to do with freo's form. As much as life revolves around footy for me, it doesn't for everybody :)

You must be thinking of a different incident. The one i'm referring to, Parker was in front for the whole contest, and was being clearly held and restrained from getting to the ball. From Parker's position, the worst he could have done was shepherded his opponent off the ball, which would have been perfectly legal. It was virtually impossible for Parker to infringe illegally from the position he was in.

The motlop one is the only one I can think of, when did this take place in the game?

It was the bounce in the square that resulted in "the" goal. That goal completely overshadowed the pathetic non-decision made by the blind maggot.

Great goal though...

Incredible Goal - 1 out of 3 for you. Bravo.

A few posts ago you couldn't remember the incident, now you're that clear?? Bravo for you too.

Rob and I are thinking of exactly the same incident, if you actually read the posts in question.

That time zone difference has a lot to answer for in your case :D

:o
I know - I realised afer I wrote that but couldn't be bothered changing it...

FWIW - I don't agree with your version of events... I thought Fitzmantle's point 1 and 3 were valid, although I don't remember the bounce being bad.

Crap decision.
Regulation bounce.
Incredible goal.

Buried us.
