That would have gone down well, remember the trading of Murphy, Bizzell and delisting Adam Houlihan and the retirement of Gary Hocking.

Ronnie Burns will be at Geelong next year, over the off-season he has to spend some quality time in the room of mirrors and have a good hard look at himself.

Thats 7 weeks in a row you've made that promise. :D
It hasn't come true yet.

You'd have to say, he is playing a bit better then say two months ago. I wouldn't be surprised if he did turn it on this week. But if not this week, how about finals week one. What a time to hit form (if we are to make it)!!!

Go Cats!!:)

With the wealth of talented small players that Geelong have, I reckon the Cats would be better off focusing on another ruck or key forward (or perhaps a player who could play both).

Although the league seems to be abound with small-forward-goalsneaks at the moment, I'm fairly certain there would be enough interest in Burns in order for Geelong to arrange a suitable trade.

I reckon North, Sydney, Hawthorn, Melbourne, WCE, and Richmond would give Burns a look, for starters.

There is a ruckman/key forward in the VFL side that could be handy next year. His name is Henry Playfair & he's 197cm,mobile & also plays in defence.
He had an injury which caused him to miss 7 weeks, but he seems to be coming along well.

Just doing some looking on the list, Tim McGrath has played 2 games, Menschy 1, Woolnough 4, Chambers 3, Street 5 and McCarthy and Playfair have played 0 between themselves.

So there will be at least 2 Talls required.

No, we've got enough receivers.

I don't know how you could rate Black as a receiver. He'd have to be one of the best in-and-under players in the league at the moment - this being where he gets most of his possessions, and where his value to the Lions is at its greatest.

At any rate, the Lions would never let him go! ;)

If Geelong were looking to target Lions players, I would suggest possibly D.Bradshaw or C.Keating for starters.

With that said . . . we're not interested in Ronnie! :p (Although, I wouldn't mind snaring C.Gardiner, though).

Which Bradshaw ?
The one who played on saturday or his brother ?

Either I guess, depending on how interested Geelong are, and how willing the Lions would be to do a deal (and likewise, the player in question to accept the conditions).

Both are of similar build (with slightly different playing styles), although, one happens to be a proven goal-kicker at AFL level with quite a bit of experience, while the other is slightly younger and is yet to be tried at senior level (apart from limited time against Richmond), and has been killing them in the reserves.

Snaring Darren Bradshaw might be an easier task, rather than trying to lure Daniel Bradshaw or convince the Lions of a trade. Darren would certainly be a cheaper option at this stage too.

L.Matthews has indicated that it's unlikely that both Bradshaw's will play in the same senior side together, so if Geelong are interested, it could well be a go.

Yeah, Keating wouldn't be a bad pick up. He's would be more than a suitable backup for King and his experience would be an asset.

How about we send you Menschy in exchange....;)

I actually thought Ronnie played well on Saturday. He did not get much of a run in the 50m arc and did good things up the ground.

Not sure if we'd benefit from trading the guy, I think we'd have egg on our faces when he performed elsewhere.

I guess it's a matter of whether or not he is going to be the type of player who can advance your team to the next level. Likewise, you also have to look at whether or not Burns is going to fulfill his potential in the current situation.

With the amount of young classy smaller players that Geelong have, it may be worth taking the punt on trading Burns for a player that Geelong could 'really' use.

Sure, there is the possibility of Burns having a blinder at his new club, if he's traded, but you also need to consider whether or not that would have been likely to happen had he stayed with the Cats.

Burns has had an inturupted year; setbacks during Pre-season and early year. They have not helped him at all.

Given the problems he has had, he has still done very well. If he can have a full pre season over the summer, I have the feeling he'll be back to his old, electrifiying self.

But the year is far from over. If he can turn it on this week, it couldn't have come at a better time. His contribution could be the difference between winning and losing.

On ya Ronnie!!!:D

Go Cats!!:)
