2 games at AFL level is nowhere near enough time to show your talent and he has been dominant for the Scorpions recently.
He was a good junior, slid a bit i think, and is quite handy, just needs the summer in the GYM imo before he can compete truley and is a pinch hitting ruck, is only 201 or something which is too small for future rucks Jamar can just get away wit hit being a Heman atm

201 is not too small for a ruckman, Darren Jolly is 200cm and he does more than fine.

He just needs to bulk up but he is no way too small to be a ruckman.

I have never been jake Spencer's biggest fan and while he still drives me insane he has shown a lot more heart this year than 2/3 of the players. I would hold onto him for another year. See what comes up we may get a ruck in the draft?

maybe you should be the coach
I'm not saying, and I've yet to say, that I don't like Neeld. I just think that his current record means I won't be treating him like the all knowing saviour. All power to him though, we'll hopefully still win tomorrow.

People defend Fitzy only playing 2 games, yet write Spencer off after only 13......after suffering a knee

Jamar was useless for years, Spencer deserves time to prove his worth

Was very good on the weekend

yep, fair call Viney. Spencer impressed at the weekend. Has a real dip. Willing to hold onto him for at least another year imo.

No more nervous than when blease takes a mark in the square : )
I am a converted supporter of the lad. Is showing massive heart and work rate.
I am going to start fundraising for research into coordination transplants and when it is done this kid is my guinea pig. I'll make him a weapon yet!!!

Anyone else nervous when Spence was running in for that set shot?...

It would seem someone told him to minimise the ball drop as much as possible, because he clearly does not have the hand-eye co-ordination to get the ball successfully from hand to boot. Hilarious how much he bends over.

He'll get there with the co-ordination. Cox used to be the most unco-ordinated person in the AFL

I honestly think that 200cm is becoming tall forward height from now one, ala Clark, Tippet, Petrie, Patton, all being over that 197 range.

Just my opinion but i think we are seeing alot more 205+cm ruckman and more and more Sandilands types coming through with Gawn, Witts ect emerging you wont be able to give them 10cms like has been happening

You make a good point, but I reckon at some point coaches and fitness staff will come to realise that blokes that tall can't sustain AFL-level footy for lengthy careers. Sandilands is falling apart at the seams... sad, because he's been such a great player, but his body is just too big to be sustainable. Hopefully Gawn can hold it together for the next 5-10 years.

Does it remind anyone else (for those old enough) of Curtly Ambrose facing up to bat?

Nice analogy :thumbsu:

Yeah, Curtly was the Windies' equivalent of Glenn McGrath - better with the bat than Glenn ever was though.

Remember that extraordinary performance of his at the WACA in '93? Complete demolition in 31 balls...
