Gilbert and Petterd both look like good replacements for him, and i kinda have to, cause i already got Hill on the field, $7,000 left over, and Petrenko and Broughton as reserves. However, i already got Goddard and Fisher in my defence, so it would be a good idea not to have too many Saints in there. Ill probs go with Petterd, unless i can find the cash to get Houlihan. What do you think? Houlihan v Petterd v Gilbert???

im stuck between 2 options
currently i have 10 grand spare with hill on field and grimes and broughton on bench

option 1: grimes for petrenko/suban and raines for gilbert
option 2: raines for petterd

i'll probably go with option 2

option 3: Raines for suban/petrenko. Play suban/petrenko for a week and then play grimes thereafter.

I think that'd be common sense if you already have a replacement on the bench who will be an adequate replacement in a week or two.

Be ridiculous to use 2 trades

i did think about that but if grimes takes longer than expected ive got hill and suban/petrenko on field but after thinking about it i think i'll do that

thanks :D

Between Hill, Petterd, Cheney and now Gilbert. Really just depends on who scores more next week. Gilbert will be tough to get in though as im 10k short.

Just because some rookies like Cheney and Hurley had good weeks does not mean that they will maintain their form. I'd hold off trading until at least round 3 so you still beat the price rise but get a better indication of their scoring abilities.

Cheney looks as though he could play most of the season when you think melbourne havnt got a lot of options down back as well as the fact the ball will be in Melbournes backline most of the time this year so he could be a great cash cow.He played well today but he has also starred in Melbournes practise matches pre season too so its not as if he has strung 1 good match together so he is definately worth considering

I am definitely gettin rid of Raines before round 2 starts, as my reserves are Petrenko and Suckling, and would prefer to downgrade Raines to a player like Petterd, Cheney, or find the money to upgrade to Gilbert (though i already gave fisher and goddard in defence) or Houlihan.
Whats everyone's opinion? Petterd or Cheney???

Cheney because he's cheaper and they will likely score the same. Although one would probably say that Petterd is more certain of a place in the team and less likely to be rested.

No one. I have Suban on the bench, I'll just put him on till Raines is back.

I have Petenko on the bench along with Broughton so I'm hoping Broughton gets "brought in" to the freo lineup. Ba boomsh! :D That way I may not have to trade out Raines.

Cheney does look great though and would love to have him.

If I was to trade I would do this -

Raines ----> Cheney

Anthony --> Rich/Dangerfield

NB. I didn't originally pick Rich due to money constraints and went Otten instead as my 6th midfielder. Think I might regret not having Rich though. :rolleyes:

So I have Hill already starting on the field and my backups are Petrenko and Broughton. I am hoping I can just bring Petrenko in and hope that Freo play Broughton next week. I do have $17k in the bank though.
Thoughts?

I agree AD. I am waiting another week before trading Raines. I currently have Petrenko to cover :p. Will be closely watching Cheney as he did play all NAB games and avg 60.3 :eek:. If he comes out and puts together another big score he could be my man before he plays game 3. I will bank the $185,700 change from Raines and put it towards my Gilbee upgrade later on :thumbsu:. Very happy with my teams 2339 pts (353/281,652) :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Speaking of injured defenders ;) How long will Grimes be out for, I've kept him on my bench, but only have Hill starting and Broughton on the bench.
