IPL 6 kicks off at midnight AEST

Captain's represent: (from left to right) MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings), Mahela Jayawardene (Delhi Deredevils), Adam Gilchrist (Kings XI Punjab), Ricky Ponting (Mumbai Indians), Aneglo Matthews (Sahara Pune Warriors), some guy from Pepsi and/or Lalit Modi, Gautam Gambhir (Kolkata Knight Riders), Rahul Dravid (Rajasthan Royals), Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Banglore), Kumar Sangakarra (Hyderabad Sunrisers).

Captains model new uniforms for the IPL in 2013

During the IPL opening ceremony, which I unfortunately missed, last night, the captains were given the chance to model the new uniforms that each team will be wearing. Notable changes include the Kings XI having what looks like pink pants (sorry I am actually colour blind) instead of the usual red pants; a change to the sleeve pattern on the Bangalore team; and a new green look that the new Hyderabad team will be wearing, a change from purple that the old franchise name used.

The opening ceremony included acts from Pitbull singing 'Let's Start the Party' and Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan (part owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders), Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone (both massive fans of the Royal Challengers Bangalore).

The sixth edition of the IPL starts tonight, with the Knight Riders hosting the Daredevils. It will be a month and a half of kick ass cricket and festivities as Indians go mad to see the shortest forms best players from all over the world.

New team Hyderabad Sunrisers, are keen to make an impact, following the takeover of the Deccan Chargers. Sun TV bought the available franchise and replaced the name and colours of what was the Chargers. The Chargers personnel and players will play with the Sunrisers.

To catch all the action tune into the IPL channel on YouTube to see each ball LIVE. Apparently Channel 7 have bought the broadcasting rights to the IPL for the next few years, but I doubt they will actually show it. The IPL channel will post highlights after each game.

Lol, funny thing is, one of those players IPL contracts earns more than the total contracts Cricket Australia dishes out.

I am happy someone actually read that, took me sometime to write.

I am not sure about the CA contracts, but the IPL contracts range from US$20,000 to US$2,000,000. Each IPL franchise is given 2mil. each auction to spend on players. Ravindra Jadeja was bought for the maximum price of 2mil by Chennai, last year (I think). That meant that Chennai could not buy anymore players for the rest of the auction.

I'm not being an @$$hole, but I didn't read it, I just saw the photo and assumed it was about IPL contracts and/or the season opening.

It is a pretty big issue, though. Australian cricketers are becoming concerned about what they earn, because they can easily go to India and make a mil in 3 months. For f*** sake, the sooks need to take a hard look at themselves and do it for the baggy green, not their pay packet.

The life of a proffesional sportsman is short and can end at any time. They have every right to be worried about their paypacket.

Nah it's all cool, I didn't think everyone would read it. Especially cos not that many people are interested in cricket. I also had to add the paragraph about the uniforms to somewhat connect it to the forum.

The new CA contracts were dished out today. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/story/627766.html?CMP=chrome It's a decent read. Few decades ago people would play with honour of the baggy green. Some players, like Ussie, get to tour with the team, not get paid (through CA contract) and not even play. This doesn't seem fair, especially seeing that he couldn't finish his domestic duties with NSW and his BBL team(either Thunder or Scorchers).

After reading some dry communication theory for over an hour I probably found this a bit too funny.

You can demonstrate the ability to recognise transient states by asking your friend to say this statement word-for-word 4 times: "These pretzels are making me thirsty." Each time have your friend portray a different emotion, and likely you will accurately select each.

I did mine at a childcare center. It's easy if that's what you want. But if you know what sort of job you want to do in the future, I'd highly recommend asking around to see if you can do something in that field.

Yerp, but now they don't accept work experience submissions because they get heaps of them.
A couple of buddies of mine are doing music degrees there, they say it's pretty excellent. Hope you have a blast.
