Ok peeps I need some advice!

Do I stay in my current job where I know the business and love 95% of the people, including the hotel manager who is amazing, OR do I pursue an opportunity that has come up to go and live and work on hayman island?

Depends on so many factors that only you can answer.

Con's: Moving away from friends and family.
No weekly Carlton fix in winter.

Unknown: Pay differences??
Job enjoyment at Hayman??

Pro's: Its god damn Hayman Island
Weather & Location

Probably more but don't wanna make it sound too complicated.

Ughhh I just want someone to decide for me! I've been doing pros and cons too...

Cons: no friends and family, no Carlton, no rugby, I love Melbourne a lot, I'd be on a tiny island, I'd be working longer hours due to living at my workplace

Pros: more money, accommodation and food costs minimal ($70 a week for a hotel suite and all meals included), no bills, it's Hayman Island, probably heaps of babes

If you helpful darlings have more pros and cons please share! I need help!

My honest opinion (well from my perspective anyway) is that working somewhere like that would be ace for maybe 6-12 months or so till the novelty wore off. Then you hit the reality that you're so far from everything and the things you love most. Another perspective is that the amount of money you would save there is crazy. If being able to save cash like that is important it may override other things. Could get together a house deposit or something super quick.

If you did the Hayman thing would you have anything to come back to in Melbourne or would you need to search from scratch again?

That said, everyone values things differently, so you just need to rank your priorities on what you want to get out of it exactly.

This is the thing!

I have no responsibilities or anything, so if I was going to go it's the perfect time. I don't have a boyfriend, I own my car outright, and I don't live anywhere (I do a lot of housesitting and in between gigs I stay with my mama). I was thinking of going for 1-2 years and then coming home. I do need money because I'm an idiot with a lot of credit card debt, but I could pay that off now if I was more disciplined.

Keeping me here-my mum is sick with a brain tumour and my stepdad works in the mines so I like knowing that I'm around if she needs anything. She's not an invalid but she can't work and has a lot of hospital appointments etc...but having said that she likes to go to her appointments on her own and she'd hate to feel like she was holding me back. But I don't know if I could leave her. And my brother is getting married next year and I was planning on being around for it. Also, I'd be leaving my niece and nephew and being away from them for a month nearly killed me.

I'd be starting from scratch again when I moved back.

But despite all that, it's a pretty awesome opportunity so I'm kind of in two minds :(

MEB my girlfriend has done exactly what is being offered to you. She has worked pretty much all over Australia and is absolutely loving it! In saying that, she's a bit of a nomad and could never really settle in one place.

Sorry to hear about your mum. :( That's really sad and I hope she gets better real soon!

When do you have to make a decision by?

Cheers, hopefully she'll be right! She has an appointment today actually to determine whether or not they can operate, so fingers crossed :)

I'm not really a risk taker so the idea of doing this scares me a bit. I have until the end of next week to decide so I'm weighing up my options.

You can always come home if it's not for you!
