• BRETT Ratten has fired back at Port Adelaide counterpart Mark Williams, branding him a sore loser after Williams had a crack at the Blues.

Williams said Carlton had "hoarded first-round draft picks" in the past few seasons and would always get want they wanted with billionaire Dick Pratt as their president.
Stung by the attack, Ratten responded with a dig of his own following the team's remarkable comeback win over the Power last weekend.
"Personally, I didn't think Mark would be such a bad loser, but that's the way it goes," he said today.
"He doesn't have to (apologise), that's his point of view and that's the way he sees it.
"He'll talk about first-round draft picks (but) I thought every team got a first-round draft pick when they go to the draft.
"Maybe (his comments) might be to deflect what he's got going on over there."

He's just trying to deflect the media attention away from his team. Fact is, they choked again on Sunday night, and no amount of spin and deflection will make that go away.

Ratten said the victory was character-building for the team and gave him ammunition to return fire to a parochial Port crowd.

"I think at three-quarter time when I walked down, I copped a few handy sprays so you're sort of looking for people saying 'Where are you now?' " Ratten said.

They are reporting a different spin on this story here in Adelaide. As much as i hate the other mob, Choco didn't quite whinge as much as the paper made him out to.

The comments he made about the Blues no. 1 draft picks and Dick Pratt were made during the pre-match press conference on the Friday.

The reporters were concentrating on who would match up on Stevens and Judd and Choco said that the Blues had a lot more going for them than those 2 players alone, including their 3 no.1 picks who are all developing rapdily into stars of the competiton. That and the financial boost of Dick Pratt, Carlton are a tough side that shouldn't be taken lightly.

In saying that, what a beautiful 30 minutes of football where the weak minds of worst performing grand finalists in the history of the game were exposed.

The original paper article was yesterday, and stated clearly that the comments were made pre-match.

Its the reporters who asked the questions of Ratts at the press conference who have been misleading, and hence, got a story out of nothing.

Just hope is doesn't affect our preparation for this week.

I think you can really see that from the players as well, it's the first time in a long time it looks like they want to play for the coach
