Just goes to show, you can not even get your facts right.

You support a know nothing club who has 1 grand final win in its history.

What has your club achieved in your lifetime, how many premierships have you seen?

Still early days, I'm happy with our pick.

Lol at the Footscray supporter in this thread. What a shithouse nothing club to support ha ha ha.

I think Rocky is either just being a troll or that Reece slept with Rocky's mother and he has it in for him.

Personally, I'm very happy with what Conca has shown so far and couldn't care less if Heppell turns out better or not. Besides Gold Coast had several chances to pick up Heppell and I don't see Rocky trolling them.

Geee, I watched him closely last night. I reckon his kicks are a bit up and under and he sometimes looks like a rabbit in the headlights. I know I will be attacked but I don't think he looks like a pick 6.

I am currently watching heppell star in the Anzac game-you choose Conca ahead of him. Interesting decision
Given you're the same flog who came on a few weeks ago and said that one of our coaches had told you that Deledio was going to play on Buddy, which by the way never happened, any credibility you had is completely shot.

Due to family/easter commitments, I couldn't make the game on Sunday, but it was interesting to hear Dimma's comments before the game when Paul Roos interviewed him. Roos asked about the defensive mindset of our midfield (in particular Martin's lack of) and Dimma said that Cotchin's is really good because he's played a lot at half back, and that was the reason Conca has been lining up on a dangerous small forward every week, and that throughout the year will be released more into the midfield. He also said they made a mistake last year not playing Martin more in the backline.

Although it's still early, in hindsight, Conca was obviously a fantastic pick. I know a guy who's the Victorian Recruiting manager of an interstate club, and he said they sat down and talked about Conca big time and all agreed that he was by far the best clearance player in the country last year. He also said that West Coast were into him in a serious way. Regardless of where Conca ranks amongst his draft class in 5-10 years time, if he keeps going the way he is, we should be a very happy group of supporters.

Heppell may look like Dale Thomas, but Conca plays like him. And that is a compliment, if anyone is still deluded enough to think Thomas isn't a star

Extremely happy with our decision at pick 6, Heppell will forever be a flanker, whereas Reece will be a gun mid.

I would have picked Martin ahead of Scully and Trengrove as pick 1 in 2009 but I get the feel some of our recruiters might not have based on other selections!

incorrect. we would still have dusty

The bloke lost all credibility when he said that Cotchin was certain to go to the GC and had been up there looking at some property, the best adjective for him would probably result in a red card.

Doesn't really play like Dale Thomas at all to me. Dale Thomas is a gut running specialist who gets to the right spots by sheer workrate and then kicks it long. Conca is a smooth mover who evades tacklers and brings teammates into the game, typically with short disposal.

The question is, now the fans have a better idea of the players given the recruiters supposedly know all and sundry about them was Conca in terms of the pick worth the risk against a more known quantity in Heppell given he trained with us. I think Conca will be a star and is a better pick than Tambling but if we knew Heppell was as good as he indicates, particularly given our defense weaknesses in the height area, why the risk. In fact why not gamble on trading older players/picks to get a pick 11-15 to get Conca, worse case scenario end up with Smith?

Don't get me wrong, I m glad we got Conca and I think he will become a great player for us. The big worry for me is why high risk was used getting him with 6 given past high risk plays of the past like Oakley Nicholls etc...

Probably answering your own questions Mr M (and those of many others through the pre season).

For those in the know, who had actually seen both players (and all others) up close, given them a run, extensive interviewing and learnt from junior coaches, teachers, family members, etc, Conca wasn't a "high risk" - in fact, he seems to be completely the opposite.

Unless the 'risk' you refer to is of opposition supporters with the intelligence of Rocky coming over here and giving us grief from the depths of his moronic mind. I'm happy putting up with that knowing that a) we've got one hell of a footballer, and b) as fans we've got a brighter future than Mr Balboa (and as human beings too).

Hep v. Conca comparisons are growing old already. Heppell is often playing on the oppositions worst forward, for a team that looks like it will finish top 6. Playing a role rebounding across half back and up around the wing like he did through his junior career. No denying he is playing that role perfectly, Essendon couldn't have hoped for much more than what he is doing.

Conca is playing for a team in the bottom 6, taking players like Milne and learning through a role he has never played before. When he did move into the midfield against the Pies he had 23 touches and looked completely composed.

Hopefully we can play him a bit more in the middle as the year goes on.

Heppell played very well on the weekend but make no mistake it was far from the perfect game. Blair kicked a couple on him in the first half and he also made a couple of turnovers which cost goals. In saying that he looks like an awesome footballer and would have been great at Richmond. Initally I was super pissed we passed him up at draft time.....however:

Am loving Concas work. 23 touches last week against the pies at 91% and 23 this week at 85% or something like that. He is that pure outside mid who can go inside at times who hits targets and is quick and agile. He is everything Edwards probably should be. Think he is a jet and I actually think we needed another mid more than we needed another HBF. Batchelor looks very good and I think will end up being one of the picks of the draft. Similar possie to Heppell and he is very hard at it with a great kick.

Initally I was critical of FJ and his team however two years in a row they have gone outside the norm and it seems to be working.

Heppell and Conca are both going to be very, very good players.
Comparisons are fine, providing one turns out to be a dud and the other turns out to be a star.
I am confident both these boys will be stars so the comparing will stop pretty soon I reckon.
