And I thought Goldspink was bad.....

Since I live in QLD, I'll never hear the end of this.

Anyways, this GF shows why RL is ****. Too much reliance on the ref. How can you follow this sport?

accept that they lost to a team better on the night...
not so. kings try(not allowed) and Thaiday losing ball and ref making incorrect call (scored onnext six). thats 12 points. Storm only lost by 7

add in four points from penalty goals that werent there, the first one 0-0 all, the broncos dropped the ball, Slater swoops on it and goes for the run, but the **** wit calls him back 2 points, straight in fron of goal, second penalty, Berrigan uses illegal shepparding, and doesnt get called for it then gets a penalty for a high tackle that shouldnt have been payed because he slipped into it, this was the exact same play. Storm were robbed, all members of their squad, coaching staff and supporters should send that disgraceful little w@nker ref a thank you card with some cash inside it for giving them the premiership when they didnt deserve the win:mad:

That is just stupid. Some of the calls were wrong but you can't blame the broncos. They didn't make the decisions. They deserved to win though.

Not it wasn't it was right on the money.

This is a tainted premiership. Won for the Bronco's by about 10 blatantly wrong decisions, two that cost the Storm four points against and one that cost at least four points for and possibly six.

A complete travesty and the 2006 will forever go down as Simpkins gift match to the Bronco's who should be embarrassed.

They did not win on merit.

Oh and i am not a Storm supporter. The Bronco's beat my team last week fair and square. No problems there.

The NRL has been set back at least ten years by tonights disgrace.

Might as well watch WWE, their matches are fairer and better refereed

Nothing like objectivity. Are we all sure about the video ref decision? Watched the replay over and over have we? My first impression was different but I will gladly go back and watch and admit it if I am wrong. Anyone else prepared to do the same? Never, ever believe what Gus Gould says ... tool of the highest order.

The decision by the video ref to not award Matt King that try, considering the importance of it, is probably the worst decision i've ever seen.
It was so clear cut i couldn't believe it.

No they weren't you had the four officials on your side all night.

One big asterix against this premiership.

What an embarrassment for your code and for your showcase.

RL football has been set back ten years by the ameteurish incompetence of Simkins and the video referee.

It was a complete travesty and a very hollow victory to be given the cup like they were.

lets go through the ones I remember.

Bronco player loses the ball over the line, Slater pickes it up and has open field and support, possible full lenght try, but Simkins makes a blatantly wrong decision and gives the broncos two points.

Berrigan blatant shepard and then falls into a tackle from Slater. Simkins again makes the wrong decision by a) forst missing the blatant shepard and then because the Bronco player slips into the tacle. Another two points from a completely wrong decision.

From the kickoff (from two points that never should have been given) Bronco's score a try.

Storm scores a legit try as the ball came of the bronco's playes hand (did not touch the Storm players arm, onto another Storm players head and back to King who scores. Been giving "benefit of the doubt" tries all season except for a legit one to the Storm in a GF.

A bronco's player gets a hand on the ball and it goes into touch, Simkins for about the tenth time in the game makes a terribly bad decision. help by his equally incompetent touch judge. From the scrum bronco's eventually score the field goal.

Bronco's were at least 4 points to the better and Storm at least 4 points to the worse.

It is a shallow victory for the Bronco's and it has mad a laughing stock of RL.

Absolute disgrace.

I agree.

Can Storm Sue NRL?

I watched it. And i was gob-smacked. Felt dirty after seeing a lot of the important calls fall the Broncos way. That Matt King try, after a few replay's me a and a few mates sat there being convinced as all bloody hell that it was a dead set certain try only to see the no try displayed on the screen. Fair to say, we were all questioning what sort of drugs the video ref was on. Disgraceful. Absolutely disgraceful. First Swans, then Liverpool now Storm. What the ****?

I getting to think sports are rigged!

Good to see people all riled up about the NRL grand final.

IF you didn't care, you wouldn't expend any emotion over it.

The Storm seem to be catching on :thumbsu:

Its just sad to see anyones dreams shattered because of someone else incompetence...

havent see the GF but it appears that people all agree Storm were given a shafting.

Whose "Dreams"....

You mean Rugby League fans in Melbourne ?

If I assumed information from this website was correct, I'd think they didn't exist.

If they do however, great, they now join the population that supports 15 other team in the NRL in 2007.

The only hardcore Storm fan here is Philhawk, and he says the better team won.

Ignore the tools like Mantis, they dont know the difference between sh*t and clay.

Agreed Mantis is a tool. But there are a few other genuine Storm & NRL supporters on here aside from Philhawk.

I've tried to toe the line that Phil put out there - "the better side' won, but find that an extremely bitter pill to swallow. Have watched the final for a second time now, and can't honestly say that the Broncos were better.

Sure, refs and umpires always make mistakes, but that would have to be the first time I've seen a grand final of any code, clearly decided by umpiring errors. Hopefully the NRL brains trust, will consider using the technology better, and empowering the viedo ref to over ride' a clear cut mistake in future.

Not taking anything away from the Broncos, they were brave, turned there season around which looked lost only 6 weeks ago and sent a great warrior off a 6 time winner.

The refs weren't totally disgraceful as suggested, just a few crucial errors which made a major difference. The 1st soft penalty and points to Brisbane, as Billy Slater was charging out of defence on the rebound. But the ref was blind sided and made the wrong judgement call.

King's try being disallowed. That was sheer incompetence (at best) from the video ref.

And Berrigan's shepherd for the final try. 'Fair enough', the ref missed it, but common sense should have seen the video ref involved, but as he wasn't called for a decision. That's where common sense should prevail. Should've been a penalty to Melbourne, but the 6 points stand.

To me, King's non try was the decisive one. It was also the most fundamental and basic of refereeing errors. If we had have registered 6 points then, you would not have seen as many turn overs . We would have seen more set plays, patient football and I reckon a typical ground out Storm win.

Oh well, winners are grinners and losers can go please themselves.

Can't wait until next year and see Storm tear it up and bring home the bacon (just like Nth Melbourne did in 99, after losing the unloseable to Adelaide in 98).

I find that bit quite offensive, young Kurt. We all know I'm Storm's number one supporter. A mean, bloody hell, who else cooks a barby in a Storm apron? And only an apron......grrrrr!

Hehe, when I said "in here", I was (inaccurately) referring the number of posters on the RL forum after the NRL grand final.

So basically between 9-12 AEST last night.. and he was commenting on the result. I don't mean of all the contributors together.

Better luck next year,im a knights supporter our 2000 team is generally regarded as a better team than the one that won in 2001,in 2000 a 50/50 call went against us and cost momentum and the game, after a great effort this year u guys deserve it in 2007
