The facts of the real story speak for themselves without being overlain with treacle - Hollywood should learn the lesson that when it comes to emotion - less is more. If not for Denzel it would have been a total dud.

I don't believe it was about discrimination against black football coaches but more about general racism, segregation in schools, and one coach's ability to unify black and white at the end of segregation.

There's not really any evidence to suggest widespread racism against blacks when it comes to black coaches, black quarter backs, or even black tennis players. An equally logical reason may be that black people have less interest in these areas or on an indivual basis are more often not suited to such roles.

The Williams sisters are always crying racism in tennis citing that lack of black partipation in sport being the reason. It's much more likely that tennis just doesn't do it for most black people. Basketball more dare ting.

The ratio of black footballers in NFL is much higher than in AFL but still the number of coaches still lags - its like Kareem Aduhl Jabaar not getting an NBA coaching gig and being continuously overlooked by inferior white coaches - he is done the hard yards in the College circuiit for twenty years

One of my all time favourites!! It's also responsible for developing my interest in the American Civil War.

Denzel is brilliant but Ryan Hurst and Wood Harris have some of the very best scenes.

Awesome movie, have watched it a dozen times and still not sick of it, very well acted by all actors. Great work. Denzel is god.

Love a good sports movie and this is one i enjoyed - pass me the tissues especially at the end, but seriously was up there IMO. I know Hollywood tends to gloss over "true life" stories but take away the gloss it is still a good "real life" saga.
