Last night was a low night for the club and all fans. We're all devastated, shocked, dumbfounded, angry. Some will direct this anger at the AFL, some at the club, some at Hird, some at Dank. But it's important you soak up this pain and agony and remember it. For this club can only go forward. Whilst it is at rock bottom off field, it is in a fantastic position on field. The playing group is now at a stage where it can challenge for top four, and it can challenge for the premiership.
If the next premiership comes in the next 5 years it will be regarded as arguably the greatest moment in the history of the club, but regardless of when it happens, for every single one of us, the thought of this saga will make the jubilation even happier. Just like the players in 1999 I hope the club uses this burn to motivate them to future success.
Below are all the newspapers (30) I have collected over the past 6 months that had Essendon on either the front or back page, and that probably doesn't even count for half of newspapers. It will serve as a reminder to me of we as a club went through, what the players went through, what James Hird went through, and what we went through. Because any future controversy that engulfs this club is unlikely to be of the magnitude of this debacle.
As someone mentioned in the ASADA thread, it's time to rise from the ashes and become a club that is feared once again. Go Dons.
