Hi there,

A bit less than two years ago I received fantastic advice to partion my hard drive into two separate partions. One for Windows, one for everything else.

This has been going fine until recently when I discovered that as a result of numerous Windows Update I'm down to less than 100MB on my Windows Hard Drive.

I would now like to repartion my two hard drives, ideally without formatting them, and wondered if anyone knew how? All my Google searches reveal are software that claim to be able to but then either want my money to do so or just can't.

Any assistance or advice appreciated :)

Cheers in advance,

Cynic

Be very careful doing this because can **** your hard drive completely.

There are programs to do it but make sure you understand everything about it.

try program called Swiss knife and it's free.

before you format or repartition, try uninstalling any unwanted programs, run a disk clean up and clear your system restore files. that should free up a few gbs of space

If what you are asking is simply repartitioning your hard drive to create one large one again, then the answer is pretty simple.

There are a few free partitioners out there that will do the job.

I use Euseus and find it very easy to use...

I would therefore assume you were home schooled.

Cheers, I intend to do a backup prior as my computer skills are sufficient enough for me to get myself into trouble but not enough to know what I'm doing. Will investigate Swiss Knife as I haven't tried that one yet :thumbsu:.

Not sure what these other guys are on about Cynic; it's not that hard really..
There are a lot of free partition software available but I have found this one to be quite reliable..
http://download.cnet.com/Easeus-Partition-Master-Home-Edition/3000-2248_4-10863346.html

Give it a go as it's easy to use and wont ****up your HD :thumbsu:

Cheers, I didn't expect it to be difficult but I can't find a program that allowed me to either shrink my D: drive and increase my C: drive or simply merge the two. Will try Easeus and see how I go, thanks again :thumbsu:

Cheers. The problem is my C: Drive which is the one that's full has only Windows installed on it. I've uninstalled a number of non-necessary updates but it doesn't seem like a long term solution.

Also try switching your swap file from (I assume) your C: to the other drive. That should give you, depending on the settings, a couple to several Gb extra once you reset the computer.

No idea what you mean by switching my swap file sorry :(

NO.

But in the future I will make sure that if I'm posting in one of your threads I shall only use properly formed English.

Which citation system do you want me to use? Usually it's Harvard or Oxford but if you want me to use another system I can find it.

Do you want a separate bibliography or in the footnotes after each page?

Is there a specific word limit you want us to adhere to?

For my Masters I had to use Arial 12 double line spaced in my assessable work, is this what you require?

All I require is that if you have nothing to contribute to my threads, or questions, you simply abstain from doing so. If you can explain to me how your response was valuable, in anyway, please feel free to let me know.

Any chance one of you two could give me a bit more detailed run through of how to use Easeus to merge my HDs? I've got the program but still can't get it to do what I want.

I can decrease my D: Drive but I can't get my C: Drive to increase by that space; and I can't find any merge buttons :(

Struggling
