last reserves practice match yesterday before the season kicks off against frankston next saturday at windy hill
the game was close most of the way through the game, essendon managing to hold a 2 goal lead for most of it
the roos hit the front early in the last quarter but coaching genious from terry daniher through ted richards into the forward line (was at chb) where he ripped the game open and kicked three. eventually essendon won by 28 points
richards was outstanding as a forward. he lead, took great marks, kicked straight and did all the things you would expect of lloydy
marcus kenny was good in his limited time on the ground, kicking two valuable goals
david hille was outstanding in the ruck, every time his hand got to the ball it went down to an essendon player, he was also a good target up forward
longy was outstanding, ran all day, had plenty of the ball and the young boys seemed to lift in his presence
mcalister did some very classy things up forward, away from his usual back pocket role
josh mahony was amazing, why this guy isnt playing senior footy amazes me. he did everything, just kept winning the footy and in the first quarter took what will be a contender for mark of the year, also finished off well infront of goal
davis, bullen and bannister played well, had a fair bit of the ball, bannister took a few good grabs
davies showed some of the ability the coaches drafted him for
over all it was a great win against a team that had 3 premiership players
at one time in the middle it was olarenshaw, king and harvey against davis, bullen and mahoney
