Guys

From a different perspective, I for the first time live in the flesh witnessed a new Carlton today.

I have been skeptical about the rise and the hype, but being at the game today and watching the blues in action for the first time in 09( I probably saw them about 6 or 7 times last year as i go to as many games as humanly possible) i was impressed. New found aggression, pressure, hardness and footskills.

IMO you guys deserved that win today, we were rattled and it was painful to see us try and ice the clock with 10 to go rather than keep attacking like the way that got us a lead in the first place. I have been a blue basher as much as anyone, but actually almost feel sorry for Fev. Was near unstoppable. Campbell is probably our strongest player at our club, and fev was not only beating him on the lead but at times shoving him out of contests. Whilst i think we are a little rusty, i think we played our best game for the season today, and Fev probably deserved to kick that goal. We got lucky pure and simple.

would not surprise me if you guys jump straight to a top 4 position. Capable of testing anyone i think. would like to see how you would go against the saints or cats.

It was one of the best games i have seen and a loss like that will benefit your team. I think every opposition supporter who watched that game would have taken notice of a new Carlton, i think you guys might actually be coming afterall.

good luck with the rest of the season:thumbsu:

We SHOULD have won today, no question about it. If we want to play finals and be contesting the best of the best, we should've won today, and put you guys away by the 1st quater. But we didn't. Which means that our Blue boys are just not that good....not yet. We will learn and grow from it. Good luck next time you face us, it wont be as easy :D

Detox this is a piss weak post.
They never deserved to win. They were in front for a total of five minutes.
They played above their ability! We are still not even playing 50% of what we were last year and even at their absolute best they still could not win!
Best game of football they have played in many years and they still lost, No respect at all!
There not humble winners and their not humble losers!

No... Just No.......

Mostly you are about 90% on your gf appearance last year, you talk about being humble winners/losers and here you are bragging and digging into us on are forums...Pot...Kettle....Black?

Besides that it was not the best game we have played, Players like Cloke, Wiggins, Bentley all had poor games as well as a couple of others. It is not very often I agree wth tv commentators but when they said carlton's bottom 5 are letting us down he was dead right because our top 10 were smashing the hawks.

You guys were in front for most of the day, so, really, you definitely deserved to win! Pleasing fact was that overall Carlton won in the midfield (Sewell and Mitchell though must be congratulated for the way they really stood up in that last quarter) but I was disappointed that Wiggins and Cloke didn't do enough to help out Fev who gave his all - broken nose and all (you got it wrong Robert Walls)!

At the moment, if we both had full strength sides I reckon you guys are a 3-4 goal better side on average. More improvement to come from Carlton as this year progresses, and we have a lot more depth now which will help us notch up quite a few more wins than last year.

With some of the great performances from your youngsters (very impressed with Dowler) it might be difficult for some of your more established players to get their spots back.

Apart from Wiggins and Cloke, I was most dissapointed with Bentley - whether he was overcome with nerves or not I don't know. Have to bring in Hadley next week for Bentley and put one or two of Yarran/Robinson/Fisher (Garlett injured) up forward to take the place of Wiggins/Russell/Cloke - O'hAilpin can pinch-hit in the ruck to help out the ever-improving Kreuzer.

Well done Hawks - a classic game!

I happen to think that some Hawthorn supporters are the most arrogant, without doubt, not humble at all. You were lucky yesterday ... you ground to a halt in the last 10 minutes, if that ball was an inch the other way..different result. We did not play above our ability, we are infact improving each week which is what happens with young talented sides. Only 6 players on our list have played 100 games.
General consensus is that Hawthorn over acheived last year, and time will tell if that is true. So don;t come on here sprouting crap.
