Hey guys, i dont know whether anyone has started this thread but ive
heard a little rumour that james rahilly has retired from AFL football...maybe even pushed out you think? In my opinion i'd like to see him have another crack at another club, hes actually not a bad player. just wanted to see if anyone else has heard this and your thoughts on it..

also buckland and garth delisted?
aswell as slade and sanderson(ret)
thanks

Rahilly's time in the AFL is up (should have been up 2 years ago), but he'd be an excellent VFL or SANFL footballer.

Would be a surprise decision if he retired.

I couldn't see another AFL club picking him up.Then again,David Clarke got a 2nd chance.

He'd be handy in a VFL stand alone club [i.e Nth Ballarat] or an SANFL club.

he'll be 26 next year. not too late for a club in need of a competition-ready body, but considering he only got 4 games for us in a season where we almost had to send the boot-studder out in a guernsey...

He's 26 now.

At 27 next season i couldn't see another club giving him a chance, especially when you consider he's played only 35 of the last 94 games despite being fit pretty much the entire time.

Would be close to the first player i've ever seen get picked up and retire for the Geelong footy club after more than a 7 year career.

Good luck to him, if only he was blessed with decent foot skills.

Tries as hard as any player, just isnt blessed with the skills you require. Good luck to him for wherever he plays his footy next season

Rahilly try as he may is simply not up to standard. He is a very nice person away from footy and I wish him all the best. I think our back line is very capable so therefore no opportunities for James. I am sure he still has something to offer another club.

Yeah for sure ... a minimum wage and 90 games experience averaging just over 10 disposals per match!

I can't see anyone except a VFL club wanting Jimmy Rahilly.

Good onya Jimmy. Shows a level of maturity beyond most players in his situation - knowing when it's your time, accepting it and stepping down.

He was never my favourite player, I cursed him at times but from what I hear, he was a great clubman, tried his hardest and as the article said, got everything he could out of the talent he had.
