i was wondering if anybody could shed light on the reasons these players have not played test cricket for the past year or so.

Grant Flower
Waqar Younis
Javagal Srinath
Carl Hooper <- last i heard was a spat with Holding. did he retire after that? would be his 2nd time.
Andy Caddick

i notice that Graham Thorpe has also made a comeback in the current test replacing Nasser Hussain. Is he just too soft for test cricket? was he injured or just not selected?

Hand Injury? I know he had some sort of injury which prevented him from making the trip to Australia and is going to keep him out of Cricket for a while.

Carl Hooper

To the best of my knowledge, he hates Lara, and refuses to play when Lara's captain, this probably means he's retired now because he's getting on a bit. Also, I've heard scuttlebutt about him and Viv Richards not getting on either.

I heard something about a back injury, not much more though. He should be retiring soon anyway.

Please correct me if I'm wrong:D.

Pretty sure Srinath has retired from most forms of the game.
Waqar Younis wants to play but the selectors have ended his career. The 3 that have been covered are pretty spot on i think.

Hussain was a late withdrawal because he's got the flu.

yeah i know that, but thorpe must have been dropped for that period you would assume. He sits above Chanderpaul for the worlds softest player.

Thorpe was suppose to tour here last year, but withdrew after splitting with his wife.He was worried about the sledging he might get.

He's a soft****.

Waqar Younis is playing grade cricket somewhere in Sydney at the moment from memory.

The Hooper - Viv Richards thing ive never hear of , but ti dosent surprise me Richards is a crazy bastard and I not only know this from personal experience but it is whispered from many different sources.

He's playing first grade at North Sydney, and his not doing overly great either....
