Sorry to hear it Uncle Steve. I'm currently finding out that loyalty means nothing when your dealing with dikheads. It looks like I'm going to have a protracted fight to get all the money owing to me, about 18 weeks worth. But while that's all happening, I'm sleeping in, going to Uni and having a ball.
My advice to you Steve is, take a week off, don't panic, relax and then go looking for work.

ps, I think being unemployed now qualifies you for life membership at Snout's Bar.

Thanks for the sentiments, all. To be honest I am not at all distressed by the retrenchment - I should be able to find more work with little trouble. It's just a bit of a nuisance, since I was very happy with the work and the salary here. Having to hunt around for another job is a right royal pain in the arse. Fortunately though I have put out some feelers, and have already had a few nibbles. Life is good.

3 of my workmates also got the arse, including a bloke who has a young family and has been trying to save for a house deposit. He didn't take the news very well. One has to feel for the bloke.

Darky - I'd be honoured to fill the position of official beer taster, if you ever get around to offering it

Santos - best of luck in extraction of your payments. And heck, there are far worse fates than membership at Snout's Bar. When I die, I want my ashes interred just in front of Snout's Bar so I can watch the Bays get belted for the rest of eternity!
