He is back. This photo is of training today. Seems like the Cont isn't the only one making a sneeky return....:thumbsu:

Was a bit surprised he was cut. Hope he gets another chance. Sounds like the only promising rookie from 2011 worth hanging onto I think. I didn't think much of Contin from what I saw of the Coburg games

I wouldn't get too excited yet.

Nearly all clubs allow some of their delisted players to continue training at their club while they try to get a gig in the ND

Doesn't hurt the club and shows some goodwill to the players

Not saying Contin and Jakobi and without a shot of returning, but this is not a sign that its likely.

Yeah i guess its not set in stone until we re-rookie him. Interseting he was cut cos unlike Contin we didn't have to, as he had only been on the list for a year.

Not sold on Jakobi from what I saw of him at Coburg, have a feeling he's one of those players that's been over-hyped by FJ because of some junior form, and has been lucky in some respect to have had the potential banner above his head while being injured.

He did have great form in the ressies last year though Greggy, I'm pretty sure that's why we went for him.

From what i saw last year Jakobi looked on the verge of pushing for selection but just didn't string enough solid games together. I think he is a bit behind most other players in terms of development so i hope we give him another shot because next year i would expect him to play every game in the VFL and push for AFL mid to late in the year. It probably took him a year to adjust to the intensity of AFL training and the level of VFL. 1 more year please.

Why would we delist him in his first year if we are going to re-rookie him? Just in case there are better players available in the rookie draft to pick up?

Confused me also.

I watched him closely in one of Coburg's games and he impressed me. He has class which stood out to me.

i was a little suprised he was cut, thought he'd done enough to suggest he could develop...i have a hunch we are going to load up in our rookie list on a few specualtive types from the second tier comps...webberely, jeremy howe types...this is the year to do it given the shallow pool coming from U18 ranks

I'd say that's exactly the reason. Sometimes you can look at what you've got and think it's worth persevering with, but in reality it might be completely inferior to what else is available. I'd say we said seeya to Hicks, Hislop, Westhoff, O'Reilly left to go home and we told Contin and Jakobi that they'd have to train for their spot again. I like both of them, but we have no way of knowing if they have more promise than what's available. I love the idea of having a completely free rookie list at this point. It'd be great if Contin and Jakobi were put back on, but if not, we know that we've found better options. And it's not like any other clubs are gonna snaffle them from us.
