Are we seeing a new Rhyce Shaw?

Firstly.. he has played some pretty good footy so far this year. Secondly.. He got 15 possies yesterday, and he was starting to run and kick confidently. Maybe it was the hatred he has for the Blues, but I say this is the beginning of a new Rhyce Shaw.

What I noticed about Shaw yesterday, is that when the side was down, he followed suit. First Half his kicking was ordinary, which is usually what is spotted, but in the second half - he lifted as the Pies did. He didn't find the ball as much but he backed his confidence and his kicking imporved and kicked a good goal in the second quarter.

Well, It's only my opinion mate..

He played last week and the week before that, and atleast he is trying to improve on his football, which isn't as bad as it was last season.

I'd rather have him in the side then Andrew Williams, and some other players.

So far this year he has played one half of football.

I don't think we are seeing a new Rhyce Shaw.

He's been more notable in the last 3 weeks than he was in 2004. Unfortunately, his clanger quota is as high as ever, but he's done more good things too. Looks a brilliant player when sprinting carrying the ball, (assuming he doesn't then kick it somewhere badly.)

He's been more influential recently - we've been getting a lot of Rhyce Shaw per game - but that still involves some comical errors. I've no idea if a player can ever really lose this sort of liability. He'll always be a bit of a klutz or a brain explosion waiting to happen, I fear. But he's improved, and that's all we can ask.

Maby is skills are not the best but he is one of the few who has put in every game this year. Thats the first step in winning and the most important. The last half of yesterdays gam is proof of that. Lets of that sort of football lasts the whole year.

He is nothing special, tries hard good to see. Can't kick, plays the game with a lot of heart and wears it on his sleave something many collingwood players lack.

I would take a player with great heart anyday. Good coaches work on the other. Its much harder to put passion into a player than skills and its this passion which wins grand finals. Plenty of skilled teams never come with the goods. This is why I think Fremantle have struggled for so long as its hard to find an identity.

good point, can't teach discipline and heart. Can teach skills.

He reminds me of Licca of old - has a heart and tries all day ....too bad he can't kick...

HOpefully he'd be able to work on his skills ...who knows..he might win the Copeland in a couple years time...( )

Notable for his kicking Out of Bounds.
Notable for his continually missing the target
Notable for shocking hand pases.

Oh and you would say notable for getting more possesions than in previous years, so what?

I'll forgive his errors if he continues to play 100 minutes of hard pacy running football. He's going ok. The clangers will subside as his confidence grows.

We need his run. We need his passion for Collingwood. I'll never forget his Bob Rose game. He makes too many mistakes to be a long term solution though. Unless he can significantly improve his kicking at pace and general skills under pressure he shouldn't have much more of a future. There are a few to axe before Rhyce though.

I loved it when he kicked that goal.
The expression on his face was amazing after he kicked it, and to see all the collingwood players run over and pat him on the back was a excellent move!
Good on you rhycey.

rhyce shaw has a footy heart made of gold, always trying, but he really needs to work on that kick. i think a day will come wen rhyce kicks the winning goal and finaly recieves pies fans respect as its about time he deserves to.

rhyce is bagged way too much. ive never bagged him, always had good potential in my eyes. very pleased with the way hes started the season. yes the kicking is a let down at times but he has a nice action i cant see any reason why that wont improve.

remember licca years ago? turn over after turnover everyone use to say we should trade him or never have got him at all?????? now look on saturday he was one of the only players that stood up in that first half when things were tough!!!

shaw has improved alot since last year and his got the passion that we r missing i think.

when u have forwards and other players leading wide towards the boundry ur going to get errors like that and kick it out on the full, remember just b4 half time james clement our possible next captain did the same thing as shaw so give the kid a break. He has got the pace we need running the lines so just stick by him he will improve alot more with ppl giving him time to find his feet and skills
