Now that carlton have got Brock Mclean does this mean we are likely to strike a deal for Hadley to go back to brisbane?

I would have though so. I did read somewhere that the deal might go something like this:

Hadley - Brisbane
Dalziel - West Coast
Spangher - Carlton

There would also have to be some draft picks involved here, but that's what has been discussed.

i heard that brad dalziel was undecided about staying at brisbane.
if we do get a deal i wouldnt mind albert proud or maybe if brisbane wants
a straight swap for johnno brown.
just throwing the idea out there

what about hadley as a swap for henderson? may need to involve some later draft picks also

Although this trade seems fair all round, not sure where Spangher fits into our plans. I believe we really only need a KPP. We have depth near everywhere else. What of Lachie Henderson you talk of, I admit I dont know much about him. Do you think Brisbane rate him too highly to trade for Hads back? It would seem a fit Hadley would fit back in at Brisbane and we have covered him now with McClean? Is this trade even on the radar or just a smokie you have noticed? It would seem to address our more pressing need if the kid can play and develop into the KP player we lack.

Don't see why the club would view Hadley as superfluous to our needs if we recruit McLean. I just think it means that Bentick is likely gone. Having two inside midfielders available makes sense, especially with our current mid, Hadley being so injury prone.

I am not sure the club (or I) dont want Hads or dont see a role for him, it would be more a matter of what Hadley has indicated to the club. It is not unusual for a player or anyone else for that matter to think he wants a change only to regret that move. If Hads indicated he wanted to go "home", and the club thought he has some currency and we can make a fair trade that gets Hads where he wants to be then all good.

I'm only throwing up Hendersons name because as a junior, he was quite a talent, playing FF for the Geelong Falcons. I just think we could say to him that he will get more senior game time at Carlton, instead, he is a fair way back at Brisbane, especially if he their big men stay relatively injury free.

libsug you got a point but i would rather bentick only becasue of his age and he does have a lot of ability

Reading between the lines, I suspect that Hadley may have approached the club and asked to be traded.

i think we are rating hadley a little too highly
2 years ago we got him at what a 4th rounder, 2 years later and 2 years older and we are asking for what, a 2nd rounder?

That would be bending Brisbane over more than we bent Melbourne over. What did we give up for Hadley, like pick 50 or something and Henderson was a first rounder. So effectively, we've got Henderson for pick 52 or something, i could be wrong there, but i'm sure it was a pick aroun 50.
Anyway, would be anothe great trade for us.

I think you're right- but I don't see why we should play tag with Brisbane, because Hadley wants to go back to there because the new coach now wants him, when the old one wouldn't give him a multi-year deal. Its all a bit - yeah but not but yeah but.

I have heard the rumours of Hadley and Ratten clashing too, and maybe Hadley was unhappy about being dropped. But the reality is that his form stunk big time for a while there. Hopefully he was just carrying a niggling injury for a while.

But while he is under contract and of use to our side- and I think he is- we should hold onto him. Better Hadley at the bottom of packs, than Judd in there- he is more valuable elsewhere. And if he wants to go to Brisbane (I thought he was from WA anway), then he can go as an uncontracted player. Its not like we are going to miss a great draft pick if we trade him out this year.

Keep him while he is useful.

Just because we got Mclean doesn't mean we should offload Hadley, Bentick yes, Hadley no.

Hadley has proven some quality to the Blues and bar that arm injury would of played the Lions. He isn't a walk-up start to our top 22 but he isn't far out of it either, in fact i rate him over Grigg and Robinson at the moment (they are young and will develop not taking shots at them only pointing out Hadley's worth).

That Hadley is going to be traded to Brisbane has appeared only as an unsupported rumour, and if he is then hopefully we engineer a way to get Henderson down in Navy Blue, i think he could be a very good KPF.

robinson will be able to play that in and under role. he isnt afraid to hit the contest hard, and will be able to learn that position without the pressure being heaped upon him.

dont write bentick off just as yet. he has shown some good form over the last few months, was even named an emergency a few times and he is still young. lacking speed but i think his kicking has improved somewhat. in saying that, it is still fairly likely that he will get cut at the end of the year.

there is also guns' young boy waiting to get called up. hadley isnt as big of a loss as first thought. remember that half the reason why we got him cheap was because he was out of the game for two years so there i no knowing how his body will handle afl footy. nobody doubted his ability, would be worth at least a 3rd rounder maybe even a late second. bundle him up with something (draft pick plus fish as a third tall?) and we might be able to snare henderson. for some reason, i can see edwards being of some value to the lions. they can pick him up cheap as a replacement for bradshaw as he is now 31. bradshaw is usually played in the goalsquare as a leading forward, which is about the only thing edwards can do. a few people say that edwards has a lot of talent, maybe being at the lions can be a good move for him, especially with the lack of pressure to develop immediately. its a LOOOOOOONGGG shot, but who knows.

Has it been 100% confirmed that Hadley wants to go or is this jsut a media beat up??

Media beat up stemming from an article a while back stating that Brisbane need an in-and-under midfielder, like Richard Hadley (or Brock McLean......;))

Nothing official from player or either club.

I'm guessing he'll stay.
