I think we're a pretty decent chance looking at the form of both teams over the past month. We'll be desperate to make up for the loss to the Saints and the Cats will be without Stokes and probably Ablett. If our midfield keeps working hard and young forward line keep playing desperately we can give it a nudge

Key match ups:
Moore/Mcguane v Johnson-Both have the pace and height and are pretty good spoilers of the ball and would be our best match ups for Johnson
Thursfield v Mooney-Mooney is a bit overrated and Thursfield should do a decent job
Schultz v Hawkins-Schultz has been pretty solid this year and is our best choice for Hawkins
King v Chapman-Chapman has slight size advantage, but King can hurt him on the rebound

Foley v Bartel-should be an even contest
Deledio v Ling-This will be a big test for Lids on a quality tagger. This could be the most important match up for the game
White v Wojcinksi-will be a great experience for white
Richardson v Enright-Richo has to take some control
Newman v Selwood-Newman is more value in the middle and will be needed there against the cats. He lacks pace off the mark in defence

Reiwoldt v Scarlett-Jack's 2nd efforts will be the most important aspect to ensure a decent match up. He will only beat him on the lead and at ground level. But will find it tough in one on ones
Morton v Milburn-Similar to Jack v Scarlett
Brown v Hunt-class v strength

Our lack of experience up forward will be a the biggest worry. Would have been nice if Hughes didn't get injured last week. His form for Coburg has been pretty good and would be handy up forward with Harley and Mackie in defence. I think we need to bring in Bowden at full forward. His experience will be needed

Dream on Mad Tiger , we'll go close to making the eight this year but this is not a game we will go close to winning unfortunately. If we are lucky we'll get within 30 points. Remember the Hawks kicked 22 behinds.

So who's taking Ablett? And I don't know about King on Chapman. He's the one I'm really worried about after what Milne did to us. I mean; a rubbish team such as the saints and their small forward kicked a bag. We're up against quality now and need to man up these potent guys. If we do that, we should be competitive. I hope our forwards give them some headaches for a change.

Thursty will fire on Mooney. The young fella is traveling beautifully. Richo to run them ragged and Brownie to be thorn in their side, kicking a few important goals.

I guess you dont remember last year MT. The Cats in pretty poor form, not playing anywhere near their best then BOOM! 2 hours later and they are flag favorites after a 157 point win.

I remember it well. But we all know what happens when almost every player is 10% down on their best. We did the same against the swans, dogs and saints in 2006. Looking forward to us bringing our proper game this time and giving them a nudge. We desperately need a win and I think the boys will be ready

You're kidding? Richmond are St. Kilda's bitch. I'm not sure what supersedes bitch but we'll find out on Saturday if we come out as inept as we did against the Saints.

Geelong don't make errant mistakes like St. Kilda. This is where we see how far we have come and I have very few delusions.

don't get smart with me roger dodger

Can not, should not, would be stupid to give this team a 5 goal head start as the lads have done with every game bar the Freo and Saints matches.
Play tight one on one footy, as Freo and Brissy did and hope for the best, and use the ball through the middle of the ground, but do not zone off or try and chip the ball around against this team or you are asking for trouble.

Polak must come in this week need a tall marking option up forward, IMO he was missed against St Kilda even though his form was poor prior to that game.

Im thinking bout tipping you tigers.
Coz Egan is out for the year.
Ablett is a chance not to play.

So put $20 on the Tigers to win @ a wopping $4.50

Advantage in the Rucks with Simmo up against Blake. Patto should be able to beat Mumford/West or maybe we put Polak as 2nd Ruck to really test them out.

Hopefully Ablett isn't right to go.

Thursfield on Mooney
Ling on Foley
Moore on S. Johnson
McGuane on Hawkins
Newman on Chapman when forward

Do we tag Scarlett/Mackie?

You guys should be really primed for this considering last year. People can talk all they want about how players dont need a reason to get up for a game and the past doesnt mean anything but we all know that is all cliche crap! The Richmond boys have improved this year and want to be taken seriously. Nobody expects them to win this game but Geelong are horribly down on form and if the Tigers win the contested ball they will at least push the Cats all the way.

Good luck.

Anyone think we can get over the line this week?

I think we might be a shot because:
  • We are playing at the MCG which has to hold us in good stead.
  • Geelong are down on form with Ablett and Ottens to miss
  • Confidence is up and would not want to put their heads down against the Cats

If we can bring in the form that saw us demolish Fremantle i think we are a real show to take it right up to the Cats and even come out with a win

One thing is for sure though....we are going to either gain a whole lot more respect this week or lose a lot of what we have already earnt this year. I am hoping its not the latter. Eat 'em Alive Tige's:thumbsu:

Good thinking Sante. However i think Schulz will get Hawkins and McGuane will get the next tall. I expect Hyde to tag Mackie which should be a win for us given Hyde's good recent performances and Mackies dislike of close checking. Scarlett wont want to move far from the square and I would play Lids from there to exploit him on the lead.
I'm not sure who will tag Richo - maybe try Mackie, Enright or Corey.

looking at their outs from last year - Ottens, Egan, Stokes, N Ablett, and our ins - Simmonds, (a fit) Brown, McMahon, Riewoldt, White and Cothcih(?) I think we can take them. Bring it on.

Sorry to remind you all, but King has broken his wrist..

Sorry to remind you all, but King has broken his wrist..

Is that actually true? I got told that friday but it might have just come from here. No mention of it anywhere in the media, injury list in today's paper doesn't list him.

If its got onto here you'd think the media outlets would've also heard and checked it out thoroughly and it would've been in the paper. If it is true, good work for keeping it quiet. Obviously Ray Horsburgh isnt your chairman.

Is Cotchin likely to play? I know he's got good form, but do you think wallace might leave him out for 1 more week so there's no baptism of fire?

in that case we will probably lose by under a goal from losing 15 seconds from the clock:rolleyes:
king isnt on the injury list so hes obviously fine
