"Davis was at his best in the first half when he shot 6-for-6 from the floor for 15 points. Coach John Carroll rewarded Davis with the start in the second half. Just 42 seconds after the break, Davis intercepted a pass and went to the hole all alone with a left-handed dribble. He put the ball through his legs and into his right hand in midair . . . and then slammed the ball off the back of the rim.

``It was just a missed dunk like anything else,'' said Davis, a participant in last month's slam dunk competition during NBA All-Star weekend. ``It was just a trick, something I do.'' "

When will this bloke grow up?

Meh, he's an entertainer and is paid largely by the fans that come to the games and buy the merchandise. I don't see anything hugely wrong with it as he'd probably make that dunk the majority of the time. Personally I'd rather see someone go for something spectacular every now and then instead of playing the boring percentage.

So you prefer showmen to winners?

Tim Duncan plays the "boring percentage", no true basketball fan would prefer to watch Ricky Davis.

I said every now and then, and even Duncan does some spectacular things, just because he doesn't do 360's or windmills doesn't make his play exciting. Yeah he plays the percentages most of the time, but a good block or dunk in the lane would get any "true basketball fan" out of their seat (like you can judge everyone else because they don't conform to your view, moron)

Sure I love showmen, and many of them are winners (Jordan, Bryant, Magic etc.), so why can't they be both a showman and a winner. A couple of missed dunks a season doesn't mean anything in the big scheme of things. If he blew his open dunks every couple of games then thered be cause for some real concern, but realistically it doesn't happen that often (there was that one against the Lakers afew games back addmittedly, but that's the only 2 I've heard about recently)

What I meant by boring percentage more so is layups on fast breaks by guys that could easily rock the rim, it's not the bloody 40's and 50's anymore.

But he could have still rocked the rim. There is no need to put the ball through your legs like a dink. With no defense around you need to get the job done. he is getting paid a ****load to win games not pass the ball through his leg.

He needs to grow up and soon.

So do u by the sound of ur moron comment.

You need to learn how to spell.

Yes he's primarily paid to win, but also to entertain.

Theres nothing wrong with abit of showtime every now and then. If he did it all the time then yes it'd be a problem, but been a showoff isn't necessarily a bad thing evry now and then.

Your all just making a mountain out of a mole hill, must be a slow day.

If you're going to label people morons and tell people they need to learn how to spell, it's best to make sure you know the difference between "your" and "you're".

The Boston-Lakers game.

The quotes came from an article in the local Boston paper.

thanks for Kanoute and Defoe then.

**** off you bottom feeding parasite. :D

Couldn't care less about Freddy, but Jermain really did hurt. Makes me wonder why the battling teams bother.

I still dont understand why you guys sold him. i thought you were out of financial trouble.

But you never should have got relegated with the team you had.

I guess im not a true basketball fan then.....

Theres nothing wrong with people wanting to watch high flyers instead of boring x and o's all the time. Personally cannot stand watching teams like Utah, San Antonio.

No surprises here but I disagree with you once again. There is certainly room for showmanship in the NBA. So Davis blew the dunk, big deal but in the context of the game, it didnt really matter.

Had it being the 4th quarter in a close game and he tries a stupid dunk then fair enough. But if everyone stopped trying something a little different or trying to entertain then what would be the point of watching.

I remember in this years All Star game in LA...Kobe got a breakaway and he layed it up. The crowd booed. Showmanship definitely has it's place in the NBA. Just dont go stupid with it and try silly dunks in close games late in games. Use your head and there is room for both.

runaway dunks dont really get me pumped anyway, theres no challange,he should of just taken the easy jam.if he drove the lane and entered the valley of the giants and threw one down on some 7 foot mutha, thats a different matter........

Absolutely jerry. Gimme stuff like Starks v Bulls, KJ over Hakeem or that ridiculous dunk where AI friggin jumped over everyone for a tip-in slam.

But my favourite would have to be Chris Webber's round the back jam on Barkley back in his rookie year. The look on Barkley's face was like; 'wtf just happened.' He was reigning MVP too.

Also...MILLWALL - 2004 FA CUP WINNERS!!!
