"Ending a five-game, nine-day road trip at Gund Arena, the Utah Jazz could not have expected this kind of performance from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Just missing his first career triple-double, Ricky Davis shot at the opposing basket in the closing seconds and took a hard foul for it as his Cleveland Cavaliers surprised the Utah Jazz, 122-95.
Davis had 28 points, a career-high 12 assists and nine rebounds and Jumaine Jones added 23 points off the bench for the Cavaliers, who had six players in double figures and halted a seven-game losing streak.
Davis fired a shot at Utah's basket in the closing seconds after taking the inbounds pass near the free-throw line. He was fouled hard by Jazz guard DeShawn Stevenson and made two free throws with two seconds left.
"This is not schoolyard basketball. These guys are getting paid," Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said. "I was glad DeShawn tried to knock him down."
Stevenson agreed with his coach.
"I have nothing against Ricky. It's about respect. Respect for the game," he said. "Ricky's like that. He's a wild person. I didn't try to hurt him. But I gave him a hard foul."
Hmm I wonder if the Mailman will be delivering the hard foul next time
