A lot of people are saying we needed a lost to find our imperfections, but i think it works the same way with Riewoldt. He missed not because of the pressure or the moment but because of a skill error, one that has riddled his career...set shots. His set shots are still the biggest problem in his game and he really hasn't got a hell of a lot better over his career (i got no stats to prove that but just as a supporter i've seen he still misses just as many gettable shots as ever). So when all the boys work on their individual problems i hope this miss will compel Roo to really work hard on his kicking for the finals.

Riewolts kicking is ok. Could be better, but there's no point wishing it was better, and I'm sure he practices set shots......he's slotted some beauties this year, look at the Geelong game. What about the rest of the team slotting a few more?

He rushed his kick. But i think he didnt care whether he missed or goaled. I think the players may have got complacent with the win. Thinking they were invincible and if they can come from 43 points down now they can do it again and again. We shouldnt have been in that position and like rossy said after the game we can win going backwards or lose going forwards, I think Rooey had the same thought process when lining up for goal. The comeback and effort was the team reward not the 4 points. Anyone agree??

YES. I BADLY BADLY wanted that win, but realize that the loss is better for us.

Not sure if missing that kick was necessarily a good thing, apart from the obvious reason that we lost the game. Riewoldt seems to be a confidence player with his kicking so the more he kicks in those situations the better. When he starts to miss shots like that it may play on his mind next time. I guess part of it may also be due to technical problems with his action but I'm not sure that he can do much to change it between now and finals.

I did think it was strange though that he seemed to rush his kick yesterday, maybe he didn't want to think too much about it but I would have thought he would have been better off taking more time to get his breath back and follow his normal routine. I imagine fatigue was a factor in him missing that shot, most of the players looked pretty exhausted at the end of the game.

I don't agree he needed to miss. IEarlier in the game i said to my wife what I think we have all felt at some time. That Roo's kicking at goal may cost us a game some day. ( i don't blame him for the loss.)
I am very confident watching Roo kick from 50 or at an acute angle because he gets goals that he isn't expected to.
Unfortunately when in front, 20 metres out, my heart is in my mouth as conversely, he doesn't get the goals he should. So it's obvious that its a confidence problem and if he had the yips before, they will probably get twice as bad.
Although his goal to point ratio seems ok, it doesn't include out of bounds, kicks that don't make the distance and short kicks to other players when he is in a good position to kick the goal.
I'm sure he has dome all he can to improve this part of his game. When you talk to opposition supporters, they say that this one weakness prevents him from being a true champion. I don't agree, but i can see their point.
