I know this has been briefly mention in the 'Random Things on You Mind' thread, but considering she was a local on what was a locally produced show before mid-1996, warranted it's own thread.

Sadly today Adriana Xenides passed away aged 54 from a suspected burst intestine (she had already had the large intestine removed previously).
For those too young to remember, Adriana was the original hostess of Wheel of Fortune. From 1981-1996, she would grace our screens daily, initially at ADS7, then SAS7 when 7 and 10 swapped call signs, flipping letters and welcoming everyone with her trademark 'hello everyone'.
When the show moved to Sydney in mid-1996, she struggled with the move (and the show got smashed in the ratings with some dramatic and needless changes) and had a breakdown. While she made a brief reappearance on the show in late 1999, she wasn't able to last long. Also, while the show had regained some ground after the 1996 disaster it was never the same without John and Adriana.
After Wheel, she made appearances on Beauty and The Beast, and was on Celebrity Big Brother in 2002.
Today, Australia has lost it's greatest gameshow hostess - no one could turn the letters quite like Adriana.
RIP Adriana
