****. Without him this game would be a shadow of what it is now. As far as changing the game, he has to be up there at the very top. R.I.P. Johan Cruyff and condolences to his family and friends.

Very sad stuff indeed. Will never look at my username the same way again.

He absolutely revolutionised football, and football would not be the same today if he never played.

The star of Total Football under Michels, the jewel in the crown at Ajax, and he is the reason the way Barcelona is the way it is. Absolutely transformed the club when he coached them, and his influence is obviously ingrained in the club with how they play today. His training methods will often be talked about (used to often play 4 on 6 in training in the 18 yard box and you could only take one touch), and as I said, his influence won't be forgotten.

I remember seeing an interview with him and he said his mind thought too quick for his feet and often wanted to do things but couldn't.

Won three ECC's in a row, only one of a few players to win 3 or more Ballon D'or's too (I guess they actually meant a lot more then, too).

Massive, massive loss for the footballing world. Absolute legend of the game, without a doubt one of the all time greats (top 5, most definitely), and the greatest European player of all time.

I honestly think he is the most intelligent player ever.

The first touch for this goal below is unbelievable. And the finish sublime.

RIP.

"Playing football is very simple, but playing simple football is the hardest thing there is."

"Technique is not being able to juggle a ball 1000 times. Anyone can do that by practicing. Then you can work in the circus. Technique is passing the ball with one touch, with the right speed, at the right foot of your team mate."

Absolutely shocked when I first heard, one of my favourite all time players and changed the way the game is played. Football lost a true champion today.
RIP Johan

Woke up not thinking about this for a few mins, then got sad again.

Honestly, Cruyff was in the same league as a group of living legends that is now down to five: Pele, Maradona, Zidane, Messi, Ronaldo.

I do a lot of grassroots coaching, and he's really inspired me to want to do it, and inspired the way I do it.

For what Cruyff did for them as a player and a coach Barcelona should declare a public holiday in his honour.

A little anecdote. Dutch football journalist Jack Van Gelder was with Frank Rijkaard yesterday when they heard the news. They just stare at each other without saying a word. Rijkaard goes to the toilet and stays in there for a long time. Finally he comes out and says: "68 years. 6 + 8 = 14."

A revolutionary on and off the field. Being a native Dutch speaker I've heard him talk numerous times. Never boring, often thought provoking. I'll miss him dearly.
