Yeah. Deserves its own thread.

What a character Lou was.

There may have been more ex-players that worked harder within the industry, but Lou was the face of football for me for many years.

What a guy....What an endorsement he was for Collingwood and Football, in general. Hats off to Lou.

RIP Legend

Oh dear!!
Very sad to hear this...one of those moments you feel your body shudder when you hear about the news on his/her death.
Such a character both on and off the field. One of only a few things I like about Collingwood.
He will be missed.
RIP Lou!!!!!

Sadly Lou Richards has passed away today at his nursing home, was a great media personality and iconic figure within VFL/AFL circles.

Rest in Peace Louie.

RIP Lou.

Grew up watching him on the Sunday footy show. Always made me smile seeing him on there, even as he aged.

Such am amazing ambassador for footy over several decades.

May the gods handball you straight through the target and into heaven.

Utter legend.

Met him once in 1991 after West Coast made the gf at VFL Park.

Swore like a trooper, how he never let one slip on air is amazing.

'****** West Coast make the ****** Grand Final and ****** Malthouse won't answer any ******* questions. Who the **** does he think he ****** is?'

Unforgettable.

Ring a ding ding.

As I posted in the Collingwood thread for Lou... my grandmother, a life long Collingwood supporter, knew all the players from that era... Lou and his brother, his cousins and uncles from the Pannam family... and even had the chance to marry Phonse Kyne, but ended up marrying my grandfather (thank god).

I really feel for the Richards family, they would all be devastated with his passing. It's never easy losing your father/grandfather/great-grandfather even when you know that they are close to the end.

VALE Lewis 'Lou' Richards... you like will never be seen again!

Best thing ever to come from Collingwood. True legend. RIP Lou.

I've 'known' Lou for over 50 years. He became a media megastar through World of Sport, League Teams, The Sun and as a football commentator on HSV-7. Lou was Eddie Everwhere before it was fashionable.

My favourite was League Teams. His work with Jack Dyer and Bob Davis made him and his co-panellists cult heroes. Poor Bob was the long suffering man in the middle of a verbal stoush between Captain Blood and Louie the Lip. The height of comedic absurdity it was part Marx Brothers, part cooking show with an occasional reference to the weekend games. The pinnacle of the season was the Grand Final Show which was staged in Lou's Toorak Apartment. Of course Lou had a butler who was sometimes Sam Newman and at other times Peter Landy. Me, Foxy and Norm attended one of these gala events as you had to tick it off your bucket list.

I also recall a time when my mum raised some money and bought a gift for Brent Crosswell. Brent had been hospitalised with osteomyelitis, a blood disorder. He had been very ill and had not played football for some time. My mum thought a TV might keep him occupied. At the presentation in the bowels of the Heatley Stand mum had somehow wrangled Lou to spring the surprise with a speech. I can still hear the embarrassed Crosswell accepting the accolade and gift uttering "shit" before thanking those involved.

All the legends of my youth are slowly being summoned to footy heaven. EJ, Captain Blood, The Geelong Flyer and today, Louie the Lip.

Thanks for the memories and rest in peace.
