RIP Mark E Smith from 'The Fall'

Safe to say him and the band split opinions for a very long time but that was the charm. Such a unique sound and act and can see why fans were so obsessive. You either naturally got them or you didn't.

I saw his cameo appearance on 24 Hour Party People on SBS last night and thought to myself, I'll have another listen to Infotainment Scan which I hadn't done for several years, and maybe check out some Fall material on the net. So I was shocked to belatedly hear of his passing. He was loved by his fans and equally loathed by his former bandmates. Some words to describe him - tyrannical, complicated, caustic, contrarian, unique and prolifically creative

Next time you drive past the Mt Erica hotel on the Cnr of Williams and High street Prahran, think of the Fall who played there way back in 1983...

Won’t be a popular view but the Infotainment Scan is their best album IMO.

This Nations Saving Grace is up there too. The Real New Fall from 2003 is killer too
