RIP Peter Hayes

In a sad couple of weeks for sport, yet another has left us. Peter Hayes dies tragically in a small plane crash, Peter took over the running of his famous dads stable (Colin) when his more famous brother David left to conquer Hong Kong, David left Peter without most of the talented colts, which he took with him, it took Peter 2 years but he managed to take the Hayes camp back to the top of the trainers premiership, he was a marvel from all accounts a true gentleman (not enough of in the racing industry) who hated the limelight. REST IN PEACE PETER

Peter Hayes has followed in his fathers footsteps both through his enormous success as well as being a true gentleman of the sport. His will be a huge loss to racing although apparently he was going to retire soon when David returns from HK.

I'm still in a bit of shock as yesterday afternoon someone came into the office to tell me there had just been a plane crash about 5 km's from where I work. To wake up this morning and hear that Peter Hayes had been killed in the crash was chilling.
